Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Good morning on this last day of May. Mark was away to the chiro first thing while I handled the laundry and chores. (How did we have enough hours in the day to hold paying jobs?) 😁

Today was Izzy's graduation from kindergarten. She will be starting grade one in the fall and her sister Hailey will be starting grade 6. Imagine where their lives may lead ... opportunities for women we didn't have. You go girls! ❤️

She sure looks like her daddy! ❤️

At 5:30, we left to meet Randy and Dawn for date night. We had a wonderful time at Tiki West. Wine was flowing, food plentiful and ideas blossoming! We made plans for Winnipeg and Randy called his brother Kerry to let him know our schedules. "Tell Angie that Julie & Mark are joining us for the barbecue!" Haha. Oh boy! πŸ™„

"We met Mammogram some wine bottles for pressies!"  said Dawn. Well, it sounded pretty good at the time! 🀣 The translation of that might be "we should monogram empty (3 L) wine bottles as wine glasses after we cut the bottoms off ... and they would have a thumb hole!" Schweet.

Here's Dawn's invention. ❤️ How many would you like? πŸ˜‚πŸ·

(Boy, are we gripping those wine glasses!)

We settled in to watch the Stanley Cup (2nd) hockey game ... with wine and doggies on laps. What a fun day.

We're hanging in here ... the game continues ... 3rd at 9:06. 😜

Tuesday, May 30, 2017

Good morning. Mark and I were up early waiting for Ernest from Fairbanks Construction to repair a leak in  our sunroom roof. Although Mark and I are not roofing experts, we suspect we are experiencing seam failure. It was 12:30 before Ernest finally arrived. πŸ™„

Fairbanks has installed many TEMO sunrooms in our Central Florida area and certainly knows we have hot sunny afternoons most days. Ernest went on the roof with a bucket to patch. Last year, he put tape on the seams and suggested Mark paint Elastomemeric on to seal the seams. (We THOUGHT THAT'S WHAT FAIRBANKS WAS DOING!)  In any case, Mark tested Elastomeric on 1 seam last year but it cracked open after six months. It baked and got brittle in the sun.) πŸ€” It's time Fairbanks Construction steps up and repairs our roof which has a lifetime warranty.

A new neighbor is getting quotes on a proposed addition on their home and asked about our experience. Let's see how the company handles our problem ... this time.

Mark had a great check up at the urologis so doesn't have to go back for a year. Yahoo. No more drives to The Villages.

Robbie and BeeZee enjoyed their afternoon golf cart ride. The breeze was wonderful. We may go again later as well. According to our forecast, rain is moving into our area this week. That's fine with us, we sure need it.

Both of us have been working on our RV prep punch list. Yesterday, Mark bought a large grease container only to discover he "lost" his large grease gun. Ha ha. So, today he was off to Home Depot to buy a new one.

We were expecting to see Randy today after golf, but he is home resting a sore back. He did a lot of yard work yesterday and probably overdid it. Well, at least that's the story. We plan to meet he and Dawn tomorrow night at Tiki West for date night. Then, Dawn will join me for Yaya's on Thursday night ... and Randy, Mark, Ken and Jim will go somewhere for Guy-Ya's. 🍻

Sue and Wayne are expecting better weather at the cottage in Canada later this week. So far, it has been cool and damp. Today, they were shopping and stopped in to see Jim.

Tonight is Deadliest Catch and Below Deck; two shows we enjoy! That's it. We're dog-walking and relaxing tonight.

Monday, May 29, 2017

I'm not sure why "we" say Happy Memorial Day when clearly, this day reflects on those fallen during military service.

It started out nice enough at 75° but has risen to 89 at 2 o'clock. Meanwhile, Sue and Wayne are in Kenora with 51°, a cold north wind and drizzle. Yep, life is good here in paradise. (I'm sure it will be lovely and sunny when we arrive there in July.) (Their son Ron arrives tomorrow to build a screened porch and install new A/C & heating system into Chippy's Hollow. Schweet!

Here on the homefront, I'm busy getting Dawn's birthday present wrapped. We will celebrate early as they leave June 17th(?) for Canada and Randy's niece Taylor's graduation party. We plan to join Randy's family's  BBQ in Transcona. Woohoo! While I'm wrapping and mentally planning parties, Mark is greasing RV bearings, checking batteries and the like for our upcoming trip.

Tonight, Mark and I played 3 rounds of Scrabble ... he won the rubber match. The crock pot pork roast was great ... veggies and all ready when we wanted.

That was our easy-peasy day. We hope yours was nice too.

Sunday, May 28, 2017

Good morning! We were up and away on Pat 'n Ken's 'toon by 11 o'clock to The Hideaway on big ol' Lake Harris. On board, Nancy with her Kachina, Pat 'n Ken's ESS Sadie.

The Hideaway lunch ... it was breezy and cool enough to enjoy lunch!

It was especially fun for Mark ... he didn't have to captain today!

Ken at the helm ... lots of fun!

Pat was on watch with Sadie, a typical English Springer who never stops moving! Nancy's Kachina is calmer, and enjoyed the outing apparently. (They also liked the Mother Hubbard Peanut Butter mini bones!)

Lunch at The Hideaway was good ... and we were amazed to get a docking spot today; a long weekend! The band was setting up, testing, and ready to start at 1 o'clock. They sounded pretty good ... especially after a bucket of brewskis. 🀣

We left for home at 1:30. Once back at Pat & Ken's, Mark went home to walk the dogs and came back for afternoon cocktails and a rehashing of our day. It was great fun. We're so lucky to have wonderful friends in our 'hood. πŸ’•

Sue and Wayne checked out our RV reservations in Kenora. Perch Bay would apparently be difficult for our size of rig but The Willows would be fine. So, I switched our reservations to the larger site with 50 amp service. Thanks for checking it for us! 😘

Randy and Dawn watched Granddaughter Makenna perform ballet in a recital.

She's certainly adorable in her outfit ... proud grandparents Dawn and Randy.

Back at home, our Scotties are fed and the chores caught up. (Well, we ate cake for dinner and Mark snoozed.) πŸ’€

Ha ha. Speaking of snoozing ...

Ta-Ta til tomorrow.

Saturday, May 27, 2017

Good morning It's a hot steamy start to our day! Whew. It had to happen; it's been perfect til now; summer's nearly here!

Ha! Apparently I had a HOT FLASH! πŸ™„ I just checked the weather and it's 79° here. Not too shabby ... but as you can see it's going to be hot all week. Yikes, look at Monday and Tuesday's forecast!

We don't have much planned today but tomorrow Pat and Ken are picking us up in their boat and we are going to lunch. I will certainly take my Arctic Cool towel with me; and cold beer!

Our 1 o'clock golf cart ride was lovely and cool ... so it  MUST have been a hot flash earlier. Haha. Yup.

Egad, that's us for sure! Our wee cottage grew and grew and we need intercoms. "WHHHAAAATTTT?"

What are your thoughts on our POTUS on the world stage, other than shoving and pushing.

So we're having big, thick rib-eye steaks, skewered veggies, sautΓ©ed mushrooms and Caesar salad for dinner tonight.

Robbie and BeeZee just raced to the kitchen ... Mark's making salad! They love their greens!

Hahaha ... Pat and I said this after game day last week. "Someone" went on and on and on about their granddaughter's high school graduation. 😜

Dinner was good; enough leftover for tomorrow! Now it's time for AA. πŸ‘½

Friday, May 26, 2017

Good morning. It was a lovely 68F when I opened the front door at 6:30. Mark went early to clear brush and shrub on K's  lot at the end of the street. Me? Five loads of washing while reorganizing my craft room. It's funny how leaving one thing out of place winds up being 30 things! Ha ha. What a muddle. (Mark mentioned that his shed needed re-organizing, but promptly found something else to do.) πŸ™„

It's now 5 o'clock, happy hour, and Mark is cooking chicken on the barbecue! I fed the doggies and finished up my project for the day.

TONIGHT IS A.A. ... πŸ‘½πŸ‘½ ... 9 o'clock Friday on the History Channel. 😁  Hey, we're E X C I T E D 😁

Thursday, May 25, 2017

Good morning. It was a lovely 72° when we left for the flea market at 9 o'clock. In addition to buying fruits and vegetables, Mark found a deal on cigars and I found a pink flamingos necklace and earrings that I couldn't live without. Ha ha. And he thought he had a cheap date ... then off we went to the Mason Jar restaurant for omelettes.

Meanwhile, Sue and Wayne arrived at their cottage at 10 o'clock, ready to move in! They will have a very busy day!

Mark was working on replacing the Mountaineer's starter and was just finishing up when I left for game day at 1 o'clock.  Lew called said he had an electrical problem at his place and that his water pump had shut off. So, Mark went to the rescue. It turns out Lew may have turned off his water pump and his pool is automatic fill.

At Anita's game day we had a small enough group to play Yahtzee  ... and it was fun! This was the first time I played that game. When I got home I took the dogs for their ride on the caddy. It was so windy my hair was flying everywhere ... I could hardly see. 😎

But, I see Julius has settled in a K-Kamp tonight! πŸΎπŸ’•

Have you watched (the newest) Fargo series? They're TRUE stories ... wow! Well that's it for me. Mark's going to watch the hockey game and I'm turning in early! 😘

Wednesday May 24, 2017

I started my morning with Mz BeeZee snuggled on my lap. (She'd been aloof for a few days and I was worried she wasn't feeling well, perhaps following a Frontline Plus dosing?) So, we relaxed and watched my favorite show until Mark was up at 7. What woke him? The weather radio blared with tornado warnings that will last until 3 o'clock! πŸ€” Right now, the front is north of us. No problem, it'll be an "at home" day with the Scotties.

When Sue and Wayne settled in at Anicinabe yesterday afternoon, a stray dog adopted them.

You know that's a smart stray to choose them for help! Sue's just the person to know who to call!

It was a squirrel-ly day! I spotted one drinking from the water dish I put out daily so put sunflower seeds out too. Within 10 minutes there were 2 there! Can you see the wee guy in the planter at the bottom? Cute.

Before the rain began, Robbie, BeeZee and I had a long walk followed by a ride on The Caddy. 😎 We ALL enjoy it. The lake was wild today with whitecaps when we cruised past. Mark was working on Da Mounty, replacing the temperamental starter but came in as the wind began gusting.

After the ☔️storm ... it's a cool 72! There's more where that came from; but it's happy hour!

Sue and Wayne put the heat on at their cottage ... it's 68 there this afternoon but will be in the 40-50 range overnight. They'll move in tomorrow.

Yes, we started happy hour at five and it's now 10 o'clock so we're watching the news. It was gorgeous sitting on the front porch with a breeze and cool air.

Ta Ta till tomorrow

Tuesday, May 23, 2017

Good day! It's a nice one here!  Mark washed our Dodge and Kia this fine afternoon and I took the kids for a ride on The Caddy.

Robbie was all ears 😎 when we stopped by Nancy's to pick up some paperwork. She's busy cleaning out the accumulation of things that find the way into garages. πŸ˜• I invited her to join us on our evening dinner ... we'll see.

Sue and Wayne arrived safely in Kenora, greeted by deer 🦌 and sunshine!

They'll stay a night or two at Anicinabe before moving into their cottage. It's 67F, nice! (We're not able to stay here in July but booked into Perch Bay.) After settling in they met Rose at Boston Pizza.

Randy and Dawn arrived for happy hour and a visit before we went to Fish Camp for supper. Last night, Dawn kept calling it the bait shack instead. Haha. We had a lot of laughs! Our intention was to go by boat, but there were a few thunderstorms around and it was quite breezy. So, we went by car.

Both Randy and Dawn had fish and chips which they enjoyed, Mark had hot wings and I had chicken tenders with fries. Everything came out hot and nicely cooked. πŸ‘πŸ»

πŸ˜‚πŸΎπŸ’•
Back home, it's a relaxing TV night. Ta Ta til tomorrow.

Monday, May 22, 2017

Good morning! It's a 77 degree start with a high of 86 forecast later.

😜 Is that Randy's story while cooking Chicken Marsala for 7 tonight?

Meanwhile, Mark went to the chiropractor, shoe shopping and grocery shopping. You can tell who enjoys shopping in our family, and it's not me. Ha ha. Well, I do enjoy shopping online! As Mark says, "there's a package at the door every other day!" πŸ™„

Haha. This reminded me of Dawn's story about Randy's stinky Crocs! 😜

I'm pretty sure there will be some new "great stories" born tonight.

Everyone arrived by 515 and the party began. We had cocktails in the living room followed by a fabulous dinner in the dining room with lotto tickets for all and dessert on the deck.

Pat 'n misbehaving Ken ... 😜

Dessert 'n drinks on the deck. There was a beautiful breeze and it had cooled down to 78 degrees ! Randy's friendly ducks, the whistle ducks, flew over checking on us. Randy said they're afraid to land at their house now! Ka-blam. πŸ™„

Pat, Ken and Nancy left about 830-ish to go home and let the dogs out. Mark and I stayed to celebrate Dawn's "Friday" night. We opened a bottle of St. Germain liquor and were very alarmed that it smelled like Nanny's perfume. Fortunately, it didn't taste anything like that and we sent it down the hatch. We decided it would be delicious with champagne and a little soda water! Next time! We sat around and talked, listened to music and had plenty of laughs.

Robbie and BeeZee on the sofa enjoying Dawn and Randy and lots of snuggling. They happily sat there at least an hour.

Dawn and Randy opening the St. Germain bottle! (I dabbed it on as perfume, but it was rather sticky!) 😜

Finally, about 11 o'clock we left for home. An executive decision was made for date night to be one day earlier, due to Dawn's schedule, and that we would go to the Fishcamp for dinner. Schweet.

In other news, Sue and Wayne passed through Duluth and stayed north of there tonight. I would imagine they will make it to the cottage tomorrow, weather permitting. Shorty Hotpants is anxious to get to his recliner chair!

Traveling in style!

So that's it for tonight. It's now 11:45 and I best get this posted before Scott calls Randy at 3 AM to say the blog isn't up. LOL. (We missed seeing you over the winter Mac!)

Ta Ta til tomorrow.

Sunday, May 21, 2017

Good morning. It was a near 74° when we woke up. Oh oh ... That means a 90° day by 4 o'clock. Mark decided to get his work done first thing this morning. Me? Well there's always laundry ... and my Sunday show Fahreed Zakaria GPS.

Ha! My Sunday show was interrupted by Trump's speech in Saudi Arabia. By Trump's standards, it was a good speech but stepped on a few toes by not knowing the various factions in the region. Tonight's news will be full of it.

Sue and Wayne stayed a 2nd night in Wisconsin, relaxing and avoiding inclement weather. The RV casino looks nice!

Ho Chunk Casino in Wisconsin Dells area.

Maybe we'll stop there in the fall, weather depending.

The Scotties and I had a great afternoon ride on The Caddy before it got too hot. I saw Pat and Ken arriving home from shopping and asked about his mom. Apparently she needs an orthopedic doctor to check her hip after a fall a few days ago. (Reminds me of mom's trouble with falls.) Martha (and Boston Terrier Zelda) are staying with them for awhile.

Wayne reminded me of the Falcon Lake, Manitoba UFO incident from years ago. Here's the story.

Cool eh? Well it's less than a month til we head north. We're looking forward to visiting and having fun. Jim G's lodge is on our "to do" list. πŸ’•
