Friday, December 30, 2022

Good morning. It’s been a hustle and bustle of odds and ends today and then Carlos failed to start. Actually, he did start, went 3 feet, and began circling. I thought perhaps there was a particularly dirty spot there, so I stopped him and wiped it up with a cloth. No, that wasn’t the problem. I’m not sure exactly what it was but I had to completely delete the app and reinstall it. Now, of course, Carlos hast to learn the entire house over again. This takes five days.  πŸ˜…

Robbie’s foot seems a bit better today! He’s still hobbling about but I noticed he put it down to eat. And, he gave me a high five. Mark snuggled with Robs and put Light Relief on his paw. It’s been the instant cure for us over the years. Hope it helps him.

This afternoon Mark and I went bowling and ended up on “Fun Bowl” with a (sort of) league. It was fun … met more bowlers and played 3 games. I’m getting better … 133, 150 and 118. Mark had a lousy bowling day but still scored 133 as his high. Good easy exercise for us.

Tonight was front porch sitting … cigar and a drink with Robbie and BeeZee laying on their hammocks.

Our beautiful granddaughter Hailey.

Our extended Tawns family together for Christmas in Australia … Miles, Elliot, Patrick, Alastair, Melanie, Connie, Alex, Flo. They had a literal ‘Beach Ball’ …

Front row is Alastair, Melanie and Alex. What a blast!

Tomorrow is the last of December. Enjoy it. πŸ₯°

Thursday, December 29, 2022

It’s been a busy day storing away Christmas decor! But, it’s done and the house is tidy. Tomorrow I’ll give it all a cleaning, floors and all.

Poor Robbie. He’s somehow hurt his front left paw. We can’t get into our vet til Monday morning for an xray! (There’s such a shortage of vets nowadays.) We have tramadol on hand from a previous surgery so he’s relieved of (some) pain. Mark checked his paws 🐾 and can’t see anything wrong … but he won’t put weight on it. So … it’s carry him in and out for potty time.

The boots didn’t help yesterday! Poor guy.

We are just back home from Diane and Chris’s place where we played the new monopoly game. It was fun, lots to learn as we haven’t played it since we were kids. The rules have changed as there is now a vault which does speed up the game! I was the big winner! Woohooo … I don’t remember ever having one monopoly in my life. Usually, Diane was the winner but tonight she just didn’t have luck with the dice.

Mark‘s cousin in Buffalo sent this picture. When you first look at it, it doesn’t look like much, but those are people shoveling the roof off, and the snow is higher than them.

Now that’s horrible!!!

Wednesday December 28, 2022

Good morning! Our dark, cold mornings are DONE! The sun is shining, jackets stowed, it’s winter in Florida once again. πŸ˜‚ (I know, we’re really spoilt after all the years in Floridah.) 🌞

Mark ran the sprinklers early to green up things but there’s some pruning to do on the trumpet plants. That’s a shame as they were in bloom. They’ll come back; happens every winter here in Central Florida.

Time for some goofy humor πŸ˜‚

Boxing Day, 2022

Happy Boxing Day. I will post a couple of pictures from last night at Sue and Wayne’s Christmas dinner. We had a good time, and were home about 930. Nancy had come in for the dogs at 6 o’clock so it gave us extra time to partay.

This morning, Mark went to the woods with Wayno. They saw a few doe and turkeys. Mark was home about 11:30 and uncovered our plants. It shouldn’t be frosty overnight, 36° is forecast. Tomorrow I will put my hanging plants back outside.

Lynn called and suggested bowling this afternoon so we met her and Steve and played four games. The place was crazy busy with all the kids off school.

Christmas Day 2022

Tomorrow, I will report on Christmas day. It was fun, and too much to write tonight.

Christmas Eve, 2022

Good evening. It’s Christmas Eve, and very cold in Central Florida. Last night was down to 27° and I think tonight will be about the same. All the pretty poinsettias have been brought into the house and the sunroom now looks like a florist warehouse.

BeeZee and Robbie posed for their annual Christmas picture. So cute.

This evening, we are meeting at a restaurant with Randy, Dawn, Diane, Kris, Sue and Wayne. It’s our only chance to get together with Randy and Dawn. They have their own Christmas dinner tomorrow.

Making memories at Francesco’s Ristorante … Fabulously fun family dinner on Christmas Eve. πŸŽ„

As usual, we were the πŸ₯³ last group to leave the restaurant. πŸ˜‚

Stories were shared and lots of laughs! The dinners were excellent.

Merry Christmas! We’re off to bed so Santa can visit. Ho ho ho have a fun time tomorrow. πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Friday, December 23, 2022

Good evening. It’s been a busy day around our house, mostly preparing for the cold weather of the next three nights. Mark had his morning in the woods while I returned some things to the store. Everything was busy today, especially Publix.

At home, I brought my plants in from the front porch and set them up in the sunroom while Mark pulled in the heavier plants from the backyard that were in pots. It will be 27° early tomorrow morning. And we have two more cold mornings after that. It hasn’t been that cold in central Florida since 1970.   Yikes!

Now the sunroom looks like a florists greenhouse. πŸ˜‚

Robbie and BeeZee are all ready for Christmas. I still have to wrap their bark box presents. (I might re-wrap some of his birthday present because he got so many!)πŸ˜‚ Aren’t they the cutest!!! 🐾πŸ₯°

Robbie got a birthday card from Bonnie and Roger in Oklahoma. Along with the card he got a gift card to Sonic!!! That is Robbie’s favorite fast food place. We will take him for grilled chicken and french fries. (BeeZee too!) Thanks auntie Bonnie and uncle Roger. πŸ₯°

We had our walk this evening while it was still in the 60s. The wind has picked up and you can tell it is going to chill overnight. Our plants in the yard are wrapped up in sheets to keep the frost off.

Mark and I are having a Courvoisier cognac on ice tonight. What a treat. Cheers.

Thursday, December 22, 2022

Good evening from our home to yours! It’s been overcast here (again!) and we’re over it. πŸ˜‚

Mark and I got our chores done and went bowling! Unbelievably I got TWO TURKEYS! That’s 3 strikes in a row, twice! It felt pretty good … maybe I’m becoming a genuine bowler πŸŽ³πŸ˜‚.

Mark had fun working with his new ball … and had two very good games!  We had a couple of beer 🍻 then picked up a pizza on the way home. Delicious! Robs and Beez had some pizza bones before their dinner. πŸ˜‚

Wednesday, December 21, 2022

Good morning. I am up with BeeZee sitting on my lap, and Robbie snuggled up next to me. They know Santa is coming soon. Actually, they have so many toys after the big 12th birthday bash, they don’t need a thing.

Mark has gone to the woods with Bob and Wayno.  He says it’s not too bad out of the wind. We are going to have a magically cold Christmas here in central Florida.

Yesterday marked 10 years since our mom passed away. It was rather a solemn day.

We for girls were very lucky to have such a loving and talented mother. She sewed our clothes, and we were all dressed to the nines. I’d say rest in peace, mom, but she would rather be at a party. πŸ˜‚

Also, yesterday we had pulled the RV out for our technician, Colby, to replace two slide covers and work on the awning motor. Unfortunately, he had a family crisis with his mother-in-law, found unresponsive and rushed to hospital. So, we are sitting with the RV on the driveway. Wondering if it should be back in today or wait a day or two. With the deep cold coming over the 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th we have decided to not RV at the horse park but stay home to cover and uncover our plants and keep an eye on things. We are just 35 to 40 minutes from Sue and Wayne’s for Christmas dinner. It’s not a big deal, it would’ve just been fun to be at the horse Park.  Oh well, that’s mother nature. You just never know what you’re going to get, even in Florida it seems.

It’s a bit of a busy day here, as I am going to meet Sue and Wayne for lunch. Then, tonight, we are meeting up for friends night out with our neighborhood group. Egads, I will be ready for low carb dieting after Christmas.

Fun evening! We met at waterfront Grill on Lake Eustis at 5:30. The view is tremendous, they have an outdoor patio on the waterfront and quite a bit of docking. Dinner was very good, with excellent service. What more can we say. It was a fun night.

Monday, December 19, 2022

What a fun day we’ve had! First thing on the list was bowling today. Lynn had a sore throat so didn’t bowl. That left me as team captain … and I had some paperwork to do. (No idea, but Dennis (another substitute bowler) helped me with it.) Mark bowled for Gary, and Dennis for Nancy. Lynn bowled ‘blind’ which essentially means 10 points lower than her average. It was a good time and we won all 3 games which should raise our standings next month. There was a potluck luncheon and a bit of socializing before we all started playing. Mark was star of our team. Last frame of the last game he bowled a spare and a strike … and we won!!! Great job Mark! ⭐️

Love our poinsettias this year. So pretty.

After supper we took the kids and walked down to KimBob’s for drinks and Christmas fun. They both spoil our Scotties … and are therefore followed around. It was funny when they went into the bathroom with Bob. πŸ˜‚

Back home Mark conked out watching football. Ha! It was a fun day.

Sunday, December 18, 2022

This afternoon Mark and I went to our friend Sharon’s birthday party. She sent invitations out to her Christmas party with a DJ,  Thanks to FB we knew it was her birthday!

It was a really nice party! There were 80+ there. Sharon & Rich did a couple of karaoke 🎀 Christmas songs before the DJ got the dancing started. We had 1 dance then Mark hauled me home to watch a football game. 😝

Sharon with her man, Rich, singing karaoke. It was so nice to see Sharon’s family again!

Mark announced he’s going to wrap Christmas presents! What? Is it Christmas Eve??? 😝

Our next door neighbors are running a water hose from our house to theirs while waiting for a new well to be dug! It’s impossible to get a well driller into their backyard apparently so they have applied for a variance. That would allow them to drill next to our fence line by the RV. Extremely cold weather is forecast for our area this coming weekend … into the 20s. Yikes. We don’t have heat tapes … so the neighbors will be without water πŸ’¦ until it warms up!

The other problem we will have is covering/uncovering our plants as this cold spell is to last several days. Mark wants to be home rather than away in the RV. We’ll see … to be determined.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow is bowling! Yay.

Saturday, December 17, 2020

Good evening y’all. Well last night’s partay was so much fun. No one in our group had been to a dog’s birthday partay. πŸ˜‚

Robbie knew the party was for him! He greeted the guests and followed the gifts into the Sunroom. πŸ˜‚ There were 20 here … so many gifts for our wee Scottie lad. (Don't fret, most brought treats and toys for BeeZee too!)

Robbie managed a lick of the people cake!

Opening gifts with auntie Sue.

Some of the guests … lots of laughs!

Lynn & her date Steve

Quite the blaze! Sue blew the candles out for Robbie. πŸ˜‚

So many new toys and treats. Lucky puppers.

Good morning!

Sunrise from our front porch this morning. Rainstorms are forecast, otherwise a regular day living in paradise.

Today’s fun was bowling, right after we ordered Friday night’s party food. Tomorrow is our Robbie’s 12th birthday and boy oh boy we are celebrating! πŸ₯³πŸΎ❤️πŸ₯‚πŸΎ along with family and friends. Look for some pictures tomorrow!

Wednesday, December 14, 2022

Good evening from our cozy home in Central Florida.
It’s been a busy day! Mark had an eye doctor checkup (all a-okay) then helped Randy with a few odd jobs  He didn’t get home til 4ish

I enjoyed a Red Lobster lunch with 18 neighbor friends. The food was great and our server was too! We had a blast. I picked up a ‘new’ neighbor, Anita, and got to know here. It’s a super ‘hood we live in.

Tomorrow we’re forecast for rain and gusty winds!

Tuesday, December 13, 2022

Good morning. Mark was up and out this morning with Wayno to bass pro shops in Orlando. He had a gift card burning a hole in his pocket. Ha ha. He wants a new arrows. I hope they will have a good time and go to lunch afterwards.

Scotties and I are on the front porch enjoying the weather.

There’s just such a nice breeze today. This afternoon I am going to game day at Pat’s. That is always a fun time.

It’s evening now. Mark had a great day and got what he was looking for. Pat had 15 at her event … and the Christmas decorations were beautiful, really lush. Two new neighbors joined the group plus Rose’s sister. It was good to have some new players!

Pat had great snacks too! The crockpot of meatballs were delish. πŸ˜‹

Rick M called and it was super to chat. He and Ruth will have a full house for Christmas dinner this year! All’s well with their family.

Tomorrow is another busy day!

Monday, December 12, 2022

Good evening! It was some difficult day bowling wise for me! 😳

All weekend I waited for a call about my ruined bowling ball’s replacement. After a couple of messages to the pro shop went unheeded I popped in to talk with Chase. The new ball was still on the shelf for sale and my ruined ball was on the countertop. I wasn’t impressed. League bowling was starting in 10 minutes and I didn’t have my bowling ball. πŸ‘Ώ

The games began with me using my spare ball which had also been damaged. I wasn’t sure Chase would come through, but he delivered the new replacement ball within 20 minutes! It’s nice, BUT I have to get used to throwing it. This ball rolls to the left when I’m expecting straight lines. Yup, a learning curve. πŸ˜‚

Mark had some great shots with his new ball and a little frustration. More time to practice before next week’s challenge. We did win two of three games.

After bowling, we fed the dogs and then went over to Nancy‘s to check on her pool. It needed some water added, and Mark changed the pool filter which Nancy does weekly. However, since she has been away, a new pool pump has been installed. It doesn’t work at all like the old one. There’s no way to just turn the breaker and shut it off for a few minutes while you do the filter.  It’s now a digital display. Anyway, we sat and had a beer on her patio while the dogs ran around the pool area. Tomorrow Mark will go over and check the pool filter when the timer starts the pump at 9 o’clock. Hopefully that all goes well.

Yeah … that’s the instructions for the pool pump. πŸ€ͺ

That’s it for today!
