Monday, September 30, 2019

Time flies when you’re having fun! Well, the month of September certainly flew by. It’s the 30th.

Mark trimmed the palms today while I cleaned and redecorated my old favorite living room lamps.

They’ll last another decade now! 😜

Deenna and Eddie came for happy hour and a visit. She’s making a stained glass piece for Mark and me! Her glass pieces are beautiful, nice quality.

Now, it’s TV time.

Sunday, September 29, 2019

Good afternoon y’all. It’s a perfect day here ... 92 with low humidity. We took the kids for a ride on The Caddy and saw the lake has white caps. (It didn’t seem windy!) So, no boat cruise tonight.

I finished hanging the curtains and added a few seaside decorations in the rig. It’s Florida-style now! Mark didn’t mind the brown toned, but it wasn’t doing anything for me.

A friend of my mom and dad, Sally Cash, now lives at John Knox Village in Pompano Beach. Sally is a delightful lady, always friendly and helpful. It was so nice to see this article written about her!

It’s great to know she’s doing well and staying active.

Mark spent his morning in the woods. The trail cam showed activity; his pet deer. He comes around frequently when Mark’s not there.

Momma bear and her two cubs visited during the night.

There’s plenty of wildlife about!

We checked on Diane and Kris ... they’re doing a little better. Kris has scheduled hip replacement surgery on October 22nd. Thanksgiving will be restaurant fare this year.

Randy is doing somewhat better today but still exhausted. Dawn worked a half day and was feeling ok. (She swears by putting an onion slice in her socks at night ... and half an onion on the night table.) 🀷‍♀️

We’re chilling out tonight, TV style.

Saturday, September 28, 2019

Good morning. It’s a bright beautiful sunshiny day here in Central Florida.

Today’s project involves finishing the shade area in the RV port that Mark has been working on and I hung the new I sewed. ( I have the easier job as the AC is running in the rig.)

Yesterday, Sue and Wayne had a dog trainer come and help to assimilate their two new doggies, Mimi and  Chiki.

Now that’s a good sign that they’re onto something. 😜  Training we the people to use the same words is 99% of the battle. Ha ha.

We hope Randy is feeling better today as he has been sick with flu like symptoms this week. Unfortunately, now Dawn is sick too!

A few weeks ago at a game day Carol C. left her phone behind when she went home. Never one to miss a gag ...

LOSER !!!

Friday, September 27, 2019

Good afternoon! There’s not much newsworthy here at the moment but there sure is in Scotland. The Tawns clan are gathered for Alex’s marriage to Jordan.

The Tawns men look awesome in the Buchanan clan tartan. Miles has created his own style!
L-R: Alastair, Alex (groom), Elliot, Patrick, Miles.

Best wishes and Congratulations!

The party began at 2:30 in the afternoon and went until two in the morning. I think a fine time was had by all. Mel promises more pictures as soon as she catches her breath.

Thursday, September 26, 2019

Good morning. It’s a little bit overcast today!  Mark puttered across the street for awhile cleaning the pool and then he was off to Lowe’s for some wood. The next project he has in mind is a shade addition on one side of the RV port.

Today was daddy day at Izzy’s school.

Love this picture! ❤️ I’m betting it was a fun event.

I went to Game Day at Anita’s this afternoon.

Rose, Carol, Toni, Nancy & Pat playing Mexican Dominoes. (They were loud!) πŸ˜‚

Cheri, Flo, Carin, Elaine, Anita, Deenna, Evie & me ... playing Rummicube. (Poor Cheri had cancer removed from her nose yesterday but joked she was early for Halloween!) 🀣

Wednesday, September 25, 2019

Good morning. It certainly feels like fall with the lower humidity and temperatures in the 60s.  Mark has taken advantage of the beautiful weather and gone to the forest with his friend Bob. 🍁

Cousin Alastair is in the news again ...

His Austin Healy Sprite is not a one-size-fits-all. 😜

The family is in Scotland for son Alex’s wedding to fiance Jordan, picture below.

I met Karen for breakfast at Jeannie’s before going to Peddler’s Wagon. The store was loaded with people all jostling about the aisles. We both bought a few items and had fun.

We talked to RanDawn tonight ... Randy’s sick with the flu bug ... right behind Charlotte and Makenna. Poor guy.

Ha! We were just going to bed when Mark discovered The Outlaw King on Netflix ... and my cousin Alex is in it!!!

Hey there! What’s up in your corner of the world? We’ve had a workaday around here. Mark’s been planning to build a new ramp to his shed. The other one rotted out after several years. So, today he decided to do 4 inch concrete blocks as a step rather than a ramp. That way, he says, it’ll be there forever. He also put a few of these large blocks into the bottom of our fire pit to raise up the grate!  That’ll be terrific.

Me?  It was a paperwork kind of day mostly.

Ha! Cute.  I’d be extra grateful if I could figure out streaming music to our existing speakers. I don’t want to buy a new system for my phone playlists. πŸ€”

Aha! Prime Music has what we’re looking for; now to get ‘it’ into the Sunroom. πŸ€”

Ta ta til tomorrow.

Monday, September 23, 2019

Hey, it’s mid-afternoon and Mark has a tale to tell. He went hunting this morning and was heading home at 11:45, waiting to turn left from 44 onto Harbor Shores Road. A dumb driver in a black tinted window truck didn’t yield to Mark and started to make a left turn onto 44 RIGHT in front of a Honda CRV who was speeding (70ish) on the big curve of 44 toward Mark. The dummy who failed to yield slammed on his brakes in front of the Honda. That driver swerved around the dummy straight on to Mark who was waiting to make the left turn! Mark blinked and the Honda driver cut his wheel to the left and went into the opposite lane and around Mark. Fortunately, no there was no oncoming traffic! When Mark walked into the house minutes later he was pale and shaken.

After that story, here’s a pretty picture of his happy woods ...

Could that be Steven Hawking caught in flight? Cool picture!

Fall is in the air ... Floridahhh style. 🌴

Our autumn flag and wreath are up ... it makes me feel cooler. πŸ˜‚

At 3 we got our flu shots at Walgreens. Mark is fine but my arm is aching from shoulder to elbow ... the first time ever. Ouch.

We took the kids for a ride on The Caddy and checked the new construction progress.

This home is ready for shingling ...

This is a little further ahead. It’s nice to have the vacant lots disappearing.

The Scotties barked at every dog out walking! πŸ™„ I guess it’s their way of saying ‘hey, we’re riding!’ πŸ˜‚

Sunday, September 22, 2019

Good morning. I was a bit slow moving today, but Mark was up early thinking it was a day ahead. Ha ha. No wonder he’s in a time warp, we’ve been on the run all week.

Today, we’re celebrating young redhead Brandon’s 4th birthday! Randy and Dawn are having it at home. (Extra fun!)

Charlotte

Brandon and his mom Mary

Robs and Beez were hiding from the REAL kids πŸ˜‚

Birthday boy Brandon with aunt Brittany

Brandon snuck some icing! Char didn’t concur. πŸ˜‚

Sonya found a hat and modeled.

The CAKE

Randy serving cake ice cream.

It was a FUN birthday party! We’re so happy to be included!

Saturday, September 21, 2019

Good afternoon! Mark started his day early ... off to the woods by 6. I got up at 6:10 to see him off; too late. (He had a lovely morning.)

Today we’re going boating with friends ... Karen, Pete, LaDonna and Wayne.

Lake Eustis was white caps as we made our way across the lake. None over the bow, just a little spray. It was fun. Dinner at the Fish Camp was good ... except Karen’s fish tacos were too spicy for her. (They remade some plainer ones.) The way home was calmer and we arrived at dusk. Great ride!

Yeah, whitecaps on Lake Eustis.

Mermaid hair ... don’t care! 😜

The Pontoon Yacht Club aka Fish Camp at 7:15 pm

Back home by 8 o’clock. The Mexican Dominoes were hauled out, drinks poured and we played a full game.

Robbie sat by Karen & Pete and watched.  ❤️

Mz BeeZee sat with LaDonna and Wayne and gave kisses.

That’s it for our day. It’s midnight and we’re done.

Friday, September 20, 2019

Good morning. It’s just 830 and most of our chores are already done. Today’s fun will be dinner with aunt Jane, daughter-in-law Diane and Rick for dinner.

It’s a beautiful cool start to our day! 😎 Mark cleaned Mrs R B for tomorrow’s fun while I repaired a friend’s necklace.

Tonight, we had dinner at the Crazy Gator ... a great burger! We were so busy yakking that I forgot to take a picture. Aunt Jane looked pretty good and was happy to have family around.

We were home by 8:30 and watched a couple episodes of orange is the new black, which Diane got us into. It’s pretty good.

Do you remember The Far Side? I loved it; and it’s back.

That’s it. A short blog today. Tomorrow archery season starts so it’ll be an early rising for Marky. Ta ta.

Thursday, September 19, 2019

Good afternoon! It’s been a busy day baking dog peanut butter cookies and oatmeal pumpkin applesauce cookies. That, and laundry kept me out of mischief.

Mark worked on sprinklers across the street for a few hours. It’s a nicer day (cooler) than recently.

It’s Diane’s birthday today!

This evening, Mark and I went to Froggers for supper and then on to the Epic in Mount Dora to see Downton Abbey.

Mark’s hiding his face ... lost his man card. 🀣 The movie was great; glitz, glamour, humor and wonderful characters!

The kids were at the front door waiting for us ... and for a homemade peanut butter cookie! πŸ’•πŸΎ

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Good afternoon. I’m just back from lunch at Rosati’s Pizza and Pub in Mount Dora.  There were 16 Harbor Shores ladies today! Cheri  had talked about this place often, and it did not disappoint. The pizza was very good and a good bargain for lunch. The service was a little slow as there was just one girl on waitstaff. We had a good time!

We tried to catch our waitress to take a picture, but she was way too busy, so, here’s our selfie.  πŸ˜‚

Our ROKU arrived ... I hooked it up and Mark found the correct passcode on our WIFI ... teamwork! πŸ₯° (He’s THE MAN!) So tonight we’re watching Expedition Unknown on the Telly, complement of ROKU.

At Sue and Wayne’s the new doggies are settling in nicely.

That’s Julius in the middle of Mimi and Chiki.

Shorty doesn’t seem at all concerned about the new girls. 😜

Here’s Mimi relaxing with her daddy. πŸΎπŸ’•

Randy and Dawn have taken their Harley to Beverly Beach to stay with Dan and Mary for the night. It’s a nice RV campground right on the ocean. They’ll love it.

Us? We enjoyed our front porch with the doggies ... wine, a cigar and frosty paws. It was cool with a nice breeze. Ahhhh 🀩

Tuesday, September 17, 2019

Good morning. We are coming in to the new age for TV cord cutters. Roku will be here tomorrow! We may have to find a five-year-old to hook it up for us ha ha. Diane got me hooked on ‘Orange is the new black.’ πŸ˜ƒ The real clincher was History Channel can stream thru Roku! πŸ‘½

We’re having the “new” neighbors, Kim and Bob over for happy hour before going out to dinner. Mark enjoys Bob’s company and has shown him the happy hunting grounds that he and Lew frequent.

This cartoon is like happy hour at our house! Robbie knows when it’s 4 o’clock too!

It’s happy hour ... time for frosty paws! πŸΎπŸ’•

We had a good evening with KimBob ... and dinner at Stavros was great!

Monday, September 16, 2019

Good morning. The Scotties and I were up at 6 o’clock. It’s really muggy outside ahead of a cold front that will move over the peninsula late tonight. So, it’s a good day to complete my sewing project and tidy up.

Randy’s bro Kerry golfs too!

I asked Randy if he has this particular golf outfit ... he does not; and is jealous. 😜 You can see the Saints have good taste.

After several days, I finished the RV living room sewing project! Wow, it was a project.

The valances have a solid band rod pocket ... 8 valances ... 16 side panels. I’ll post a pic when they’re installed.

Mark worked trimming 2 queen palms ... they’re huge! We started them from seeds from our Boca Raton trees 18 years ago. Two done ... many more yet. 😜

A couple of folks swear by this weed killer ...

We’ll give it a try!
