Friday, March 31, 2017

Well, in Central Florida, March was pretty much even keeled the whole way through. The last two days of this month have been warmer than usual, but, no complaints overall. Yesterday, Les and Lynn flew home to Winnipeg but were delayed going through Toronto because of a snowstorm. Perhaps many other areas would not claim such a nice March. Ha ha.

While I am doing laundry and vacuuming, Mark is working on the seawall project. Good heavens; I hope it is finished soon. This project has been going on for 10 months. Of course not 10 months in a row! It was one of those jobs that was a necessary evil but not a fun project. Nevertheless it looks great.

Next week we'll pick up the last 5 boards! At least the facing will be done. Mark has a deck planned on the raised portion with "plastic" wood. (Apparently we have started something as our next-door neighbor is now working on his seawall. Yay. I do wish he would work on his lawn sprinkler system.)

Randy and Dawn left at 5:30 this morning for Chicago to see the Blackhawks game. You see, it's Randy's brother Kerry's 60th birthday and they are going to surprise him! Kerry's wife bought him tickets to see the Blackhawks for his birthday; so that is why they will be in Chicago. What fun! I'm betting there will be a hangover over the weekend. 🤢

Dawn sent a picture from their 23rd floor window of the hotel. Unfortunately, they are the only ones in Chicago for the weekend! Poor Kerry was refused at Customs for a 1979 "possession" charge of 2 joints. 🙄. Since he and his wife traveled to the US many times in recent years, they can only guess the crackdown is Trump's ramping-up of immigration laws. Too bad ... Kerry was deemed a BAD OMBRÉ! That sucks. So, like I said, Randy and Dawn are enjoying Chicago and the Blackhawks game all by themselves this weekend.

Robbie seems to be feeling quite a bit better so I'm guessing that the shot the vet gave him has calmed down his skin's itchiness. Thank heavens! It was awful for the little guy.

Well, I had a Walmart experience today. First, I had to go to my dermatologist's office to pick up a repeat prescription. They wouldn't fax it to Walmart because they said Walmart would goof up the price. My  doctors office said the prescription would be $68.40. Well, I dropped the prescription off after standing 10 minutes in the wrong line, and being redirected to another line 10 feet away. The horrid B-itch at the drop off line took the paperwork and gave me back the coupon. She said "you don't need that it's already on your file. It'll be ready in an hour." RIGHT. 😡 well, an hour later I stopped by to pick up my prescription. The clerk said that will be $136.78. So, I refused to pick up the prescription and left in a huff. As I was driving home, annoyed, I phoned the dermatologist's office to verify the price. First, I got cut off. When I called back, the dermatologist's office was very apologetic and got onto my problem right away. She verified the price was $68.40 advertised at Walmart for my prescription. She also said I needed to give the clerk the coupon, not just the "Good RX" card. Well, I decided to phone Walmart's pharmacy and was lucky enough to get the pharmacist. He listened to my story, and acknowledged that there was a cranky person on the drop off-line. He quickly rectified everything and put my prescription in again for $68.40. AWESOME! Someone did their job! Now of course I have to go back to Walmart to pick up the prescription. Well, I'm not going today as it's end of the month and welfare check day. Oh no!!! Mark and I have learned that lesson. The lines will be out the door. Ha ha. Monday will be soon enough for my prescription.

My cousin Miles in Oz is up to shenanigans again ... he's so clever.

I had to ask "What's up?" Here's Mel's reply ...

BRILLIANT! 😜 Love Miles' idea.

Well, that's it for today. It's wine:30 🍷 Cheers!

Thursday, March 30, 2017

Good afternoon sunshine ☀️! I'm just back from Game Day at Elaine's house where we played Balderdash and Rummikube. Elaine had plenty of wine chilled, brownies baked and assorted snacks. The highlight of the day was ...

Lynn and me going on the golf cart. YeeeeeHaww. (Now Lynn wants a cart too!)

Mark made a trip to Lowes and bought more wood for the seawall project. He plans to work on it tomorrow. A few more days and 💰 and it should be done.

Earlier today, we took Robbie to the vet to get him checked out. He has been suffering with a lot of ichies lately! Although the vet looked them over carefully and checked his thyroid, (normal), she thinks it is "just allergies." So, this time, he got an injection that will help him over the hump for the next 30 days. Let's see if it helps. (If not, he'll have to go to Italy ... that worked for Wayne!) 😜

Robs getting brushed and duded up. 😂 He's ready for an evening ride ...

We dropped off a leftover plate from last Saturday's party at Meridyth's then went cruising for 20 minutes. The kids LOVE it ... squirrels and birds galore!

Randy and Dawn leave early tomorrow for their weekend in Chicago. (It's going to be a chilly trip!) So, we'll phone them and then it's TV:30.

Goodnight 😴

Wednesday March 29, 2017

Good morning! Mz BeeZee had me up at 4:30 for a potty break. Oh yeah, she had to go and was SO happy with herself. Haha. I tried to get back to sleep but, no luck. A few minutes later Mark was up too. So, we're wide awake and ready to begin our Wednesday.

Mark puttered about checking the golf cart's brakes and oiling stuff. Me, I puttered about inside. We took a break and a nap about 3ish, prepping for a night out with friends Rose, Jim, Nancy, Pat and Ken. So we had a blast ... lots of laughs and a good dinner at Plaza Guadalajara. (The wait staff is very good ... food 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻)

This was our sunset picture on the drive home!

Randy and Dawn are busy packing for a trip to Chicago, and a surprise visit with Angie and Kerry for K's birthday. It'll be a fun time!

Sue and Wayne are happy to be home. Julius and Shorty had a good vacation with Les and Lynne! ❤
Here's Lynne and Julius enjoying the back patio!

When we got home from the restaurant, we took the doggies for a quick ride on the golf cart! We ALL ❤ it. No, it's time for some news and wind-down for bedtime. 😘

Tuesday, March 28, 2017

Good morning from sunny central Florida. Yay ... we both had a good nights sleep and are ready to tackle a few chores.

Mark began with washing the golf cart! It needed charging so that was a good time to look it over and see what makes it tick. After lunch he went for distilled water (and a few groceries.)

Painting the hub caps ...

Lew came over to snoop-ervise and offer assistance. We had some laughs and Lew knows where "the bargains" are! We're to hit the flea market on Thursday.

Believe it or not, I was busy working on Christmas table top decor. 🌲 🤣.  Oh yeah ... plus someone's birthday pressies. 🎁

Lynn and Lew called about 430 for us to come over for happy hour. We jumped in the cart and rode across the street. Ha ha. Love it. Afterword, we went home and picked up the doggies to ride around for 20 minutes with them. They ❤ the wind in their hair ... and crazy squirrels bounding past.

It's now 8:45 and we are going to sign off and watch some TV. Ta Ta.

Monday, March 27, 2017

Good day! Mark and I were up and out early to meet Randy and Dawn at the Mason Jar for our joint trip to the fish camp.

Big Bird visits the bait shop regularly and poses for pictures! Nice gig. 👍🏻😜

We had a great visit with Diane & Kris and looked around the camp at all the beautiful improvements. The signs in the bait shop are hilarious and we all found favorite sayings.

Dawn and Randy in the bait shop. It was breezy and comfortable sitting there!

Diane, Randy and Mark with Robbie and BeeZee.

Eventually, Kris and Mark loaded up our "new" golf cart for the ride home!

Home safe! Mark's homemade ramps worked well ... with Randy adjusting a bit here and there.

Yay!

We all came into the house hot and thirsty. Then, Pat and Ken phoned to come over for happy hour. It was great timing so we all went there for drinks and dog visits!

Zelda with Randy & Dawn. 💕

Sadie sharing a toy with Mark. ❤

At 5:30, Randy and Dawn headed home on the bike and us to feed the Scotties.

It was a good day, and a beautiful drive.

Sunday, March 26, 2017

Good morning! Yes, it's a front door open kind of start to our day here in Central Florida. (A bit cool at 61F ... 81F forecast by late day.) 😎

Hugh and Elaine Tawns shared good news of Granddaughter Penelope born this month! (Fantastic head of hair!)

Congratulations and welcome little Penelope Tawns. ❤

It seems Hugh and Elaine have their hands full when it comes to little ones at Christmas and birthdays. 😍 (Lucky, lucky!)

Charlotte, Georgia, Penelope and Roman Tawns ... all so adorable! ❤

On the home front, Randy and Dawn came on the bike for a visit after she finished work at 5. They are following along tomorrow to the fishcamp to visit with Diane & Kris while we get the golf cart. (Our friend Ken says Harbor Shores is becoming The Villages South.) 😂

It's now 8:20 pm ... where did the day go? Mark readied our truck for picking up the golf cart by removing the toolbox and hitch. While Randy was here they put the regular tailgate on. Sweet.

Sue and Wayne will be getting onboard soon for their flight home from the Mediterranean. Safe travels!

That's it for us; early to bed tonight, for a change. 😜

Saturday, March 25, 2017

Good afternoon! Mark and I have been rushing about putting the finishing touches on our party setup. Strings of lights are hung, Tiki torches filled, cakes decorated and floors mopped. Whew!

Meanwhile, Sue and Wayne are in Santorini today. It looks gorgeous! What a great cruise itinerary it's been. That's one I'd love to go on ... just waiting on the lotto. 😂

Fancy-schmancy coffee on the rear deck overlooking Santorini. Gorgeous! What a fab 70th birthday cruise for Wayne; and great weather to boot. 🎂🥂🍾

Randy and Dawn had a late start with Bob and Virginia. They went to Mary's for breakfast and then on to the boat show by 130. The weather is perfect, although mostly cloudy. 👍🏻

Our progressive dinner was a hit! Appetizers at Lew and Lynn's house were fantastic, especially the stuffed mushrooms!

Eventually there were 48 attending.

Anita, me, Corrine, Rose & Meridyth at Lynn & Lew's.

Our salad course was at Elaine and Roger's. (Two houses handled the salad courses.)

Perfect weather! Lynn, Linda and bunny Elaine in the background.

Our dinner course was as at Deena & Eddie's ... roast turkey, spiral ham, mashed potatoes, gravy and stuffing!

Rick, Mark, me, Elaine, Roger and Christina.

At 7:30, everyone headed over to our place for dessert, drinks and music.

I think we all had a fun time!

Tata till tomorrow!

Friday, March 24, 2017

Good morning. It was a bright beautiful start to our day as we began our house clean up for tomorrow's progressive dinner. Yes, I can hear my mother now. "Your place always looks lovely, why do you bother?" And of course I would answer that that is why I bother, as it doesn't stay looking nice all by itself, unfortunately. Ha ha.

Mark is nursing stiff hips after climbing in and out of the wee workboat while doing the seawall beautification. (I love the job he's doing; it looks fantastic!) I'm doing his vacuuming today while he is doing errands then cleaning bathrooms. Another job has come up. Our water softener is not working like it used to. Our water has a rusty color and it wouldn't be long until our appliances and fixtures get tarnished. So, he's off to Home Depot for repair stuff.

This evening, we are going to Randy and Dawn's for a dinner party. Friends Virginia and Bob, Randy's neighbors from Pompano, are staying with them for the weekend. It's the first time they will meet our Dawn. Robbie and BZ are coming with us.

Virginia & Bob ... waiting to meet Dawn but being entertained by Mark 'n me.

Randy's dinner was fabulous. We had grouper, lobster and shrimp stuffed mushrooms, baked cauliflower and a big green salad with homemade Caesar dressing! WOWSA. Everything was superb.

For dessert, we had Keylime pie.

We would have liked to have stayed longer, as it was, we were not home until nearly midnight. Doggies had a good time but I think we're happy to be home and climb into their beds. Ha ha.

That's it until tomorrow.

Thursday, March 23, 2017

Good afternoon. Yes, it's been a busy, runaround day. As it is a perfect 72°, Mark decided to spend his day working on the seawall project. So, with him occupied, it was up to me to set up the dessert table and liquors bar for Saturday night's progressive dinner! Four friends are making desserts to help out. 😍

Now for the FUN NEWS. I've been wanting something for about a year ... and then when our friends Meridyth & Timbo got one, that was just too cool. So ...

I'd mentioned it to Diane & Kris, just in case they saw an oldie at TheVillages ... but they had one at Georgia Boys for sale. Sweet. We'll pick it up Monday! (Maybe I can ride to game day on it next week.) 😎

Sue and Wayne had a fab day in Greece 🇬🇷 ...

Great pic!!!

Randy and Dawn spent their day getting ready for a weekend company and a dinner party tomorrow night. Lucky us, we're invited. ❤

Speaking of RanDawn ...

Mark found their ideal RV. 😂

OK, that's it for today.

Wednesday, March 22, 2017

Good morning! We were up and out by 9 o'clock for omelets at Billy's Cafe in Tavares. Afterward, it was progressive dinner shopping for Sambucca, Amaretto, Patron and wines. Eventually, we made it to Chase Bank where we took advantage of a $500 "offer." There are a few hoops to jump through. 😜

It's now 8:45, and we've done errands, had dinner and gone boating! It's been a gorgeous day, not much wind.

Happy hour with the Scotties. ❤🐾. Cheers!

We watched three American bald eagles soaring around Lake Eustis.

Here's mama supervising from the home tree.

Mark and BeeZee at the helm. Perfect day!

Sue and Wayne spent their day touring Corfu, Greece!

It looks nice.

Corfu harbor.

Back home, we had a delicious dinner of pork chops, apple sauce and broccoli cauliflower mix. Yummy. It's now relax time and TV:30. 🍾

Tuesday, March 21, 2017

Well, good evening! That was a busy day for me. First, let me wish Lynne Stevenson a very happy 70th birthday! 🎶🥂🍾 She and Les are going to The Briny in Pompano Beach for dinner tonight. (Lynne's choice.) You see, they are in South Florida dog sitting for Sue and Wayne who are in the Mediterranean on a cruise!

I had to be ready at 1030 to go with Lynn Z and pick the 70th birthday cake for our YaYa's pal Nancy. Then, we were off to Dollar Tree for party supplies. Pat arrived with the birthday girl at noon at Puddle Jumpers in Tavares. Of course we all hid behind our menus and hollered happy birthday as Nancy walked in. 🎶

Yes, Nancy looks surprised! She had a few gifts to open while we waited for lunch.

Our YaYa's ... yes, we CAN have our cake and eat it too! 🎂

When I arrived home, Randy was having a beer with Mark. (Randy is now golfing with our neighborhood guys on Tuesdays.) Dawn was working ...

Meanwell, the K's are enjoying their cruise.

Wayne and Sue in Montenegro 🇲🇪. 🥂🍾

Happy Spring! Here's a picture of a Redbud tree in spring glory in Bonnie's neighborhood. Oklahoma does spring beautifully.

Ta Ta til tomorrow.

Monday, March 20, 2017

Monday, March 20, 2017

Good afternoon! We had a lazy morning but packed up and left the campground at 11:15.

Mark took this pic of a large woodpecker outside our RV door. He's a big one!

We arrived home at 2 o'clock after an easy drive home.

Lew was waiting for us, ready for a visit (on our front porch.) 😂  We unloaded, put things away and poured wine as Lynn joined us at 4:15. We got caught up on the weekend news ... Rose & Jim's 50th Anniversary party ... a stranger on a bicycle in our 'hood ... a lunch party for Nancy's 70th tomorrow ... prep for the Progressive Dinner next weekend ... and plans for Lew's 70th next month. Yikes!

Now parked, the Scotties had baths, I did laundry and Mark put the RV port back in order. Done.

Now it's TV:30 with the doggies. 👍🏻

Sunday, March 19, 2017

Good morning! BeeZee and I are the first out of bed to enjoy the birdsong and sunrise 🌅. Plans today include a ride to town and fueling up our Dodge for tomorrow's drive.

Vickie and George were contestants in the Match game. Vickie won ... a restaurant certificate and George a Visa gift card. It was pretty funny.

The "Celebrity" panel ... lots of laughs! (Wished I'd signed up but wasn't sure WHAT "Match" was all about. Haha.

This afternoon we walked along the Suwannee ... humidity is 16% and air temp 74F. Nice!

After dinner George and Karen came over for a visit. We might not see them until the big rally in November but plan to call them when we're in New Smyrna Beach next month. (They live at The Great Outdoors in Titusville.)

It's now 9 o'clock and we're just relaxing with a nightcap. We're going to make it an early one. It's been a good weekend.
