Sunday, October 31, 2021

Good morning. We were up early, Mark and Wayno went to the woods hiking at 8 o’clock. I was up too, having some cleaning to do today.

Happy Halloween everyone!

It’s a breezy afternoon and a few leaves are starting to fall from our sycamore and sweet gum trees. We need a real cold snap to get them down; usually Thanksgiving! (That’s only 3 1/2 weeks away.)

That’s my fuzzy wuzzy bear way up there!

Wayno’s view of Mark …

and Mark’s view of

Wayno!

Treat or Trick?

We dressed up along with Lani and Markymark and went out! Ha! Pat & Ken poured us a drink … then we popped in on Nancy and her Cincinnati company. We visited for an hour … then buzzed by Jim & Rose’s to leave a spooky pumpkin message on their Ring doorbell.

It’s now 9 o’clock and we only saw one kid on the streets. Halloween isn’t what we remember. Sad.

Saturday, October 30, 2021

Good evening! It’s been a busy few days around here, and in general a very busy month of October. Last night we had dinner at CJ‘s in downtown Eustis with LaDonna and Wayno! It was great, and the service very good. Thank you dear pals for a fun night! 🥂🍾❤️  We were still celebrating our wedding anniversary. After dinner, they came back here and we enjoyed the front porch and 64°F. Drinks and cigars were had, and the dogs enjoyed the company too.

This morning Mark was supposed to go hiking in the woods with Wayno, but he was under the weather. (Nothing to do with the Fireball Whisky ingested last night, but (he thought) from the booster shots they both got for COVID-19 yesterday.) it could have been, as LaDonna wasn’t feeling well today either. We know it wasn’t the food as Mark and I had what they ate, and we were fine.

Well I enjoy the morning a slapping paint on a canvas, Mark deliver the tiki bar to Randy. (He was in his side lot hitting golf balls into the net!)

I see Mark is the first to try out the bar in its new location. 😂 It looks great!

Nice!!!

Tonight, after our walk with the dogs, we sat on the front porch with our portable blue stone fireplace. I was hoping for a real fire, but it was not to be tonight as football is on.  🙄 It’s 68 outside. 😂

Sue and Wayne are having a fun evening, attending this outdoor event at the pier.

Fun stuff 🎃

Front porch … 1st fall fire …

Friday, October 29, 2021

Good afternoon! It’s a gorgeous day here in Central Florida. Mark was out early helping Markymark put up a fence at his Eustis rental house. I priced things for the upcoming garage sale … and I really cleared out our closets and nooks ‘n crannies.

Tonight, LaDonna & Wayno are taking us out for dinner … celebrating our recent anniversary. Sweet, eh!

Thursday, October 28, 2021

Good morning. Mark was up early and off to the dentist for an 8 o’clock appointment. He needed a crown done and was home by 10 o’clock. That was perfect for him as Wayne was picking him up to go to the shooting range. They are off to sight in their rifles.

Meanwhile, I handled the morning chores and then finished my painting, which I posted a picture of yesterday. I’d like it. It’s the best I could do at this time. I think I will go back to creating a few small ones and work on more techniques.

Today, the rain moved in. We had a heavy downpour around 930 and now the sky is just light gray. More rain is predicted later on. never mind, it will not dull the spirits of the witches and bitches gathering at Nancy’s today. This which is going to secretly wear her devil horns underneath my witches hat. Ha ha.

What’s under that stuffed hat??? Horns?

What fun!!! Much laughter and shenanigans … then we played charades! More fun !!!

One pop drop me off at home, Lani and Markymark were on the front porch. Lani had on her Batman costume.

More silly Halloween fun!!!

Mark had taco meat ready for over a salad for dinner, and it was delicious. No, it’s time to relax and watch football. 🏈

Wednesday October 27, 2021

Good afternoon sunshine! It’s dentist day for us … cleanings done and scheduled for 6 months

It was a bit chilly this morning when I took the kids outside at 6. It was 64! High of 84 today, so perfect.

We had our dental cleanings today, and Mark hast to go back tomorrow for a crown. One of his teeth has three cracks in it. What the heck has he been chewing on? 😂

Well, it’s actually Thursday morning but I will finish the blog. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening on the front porch. Rain was moving in for today and you could feel it in the air. Mark chop down the crêpe myrtle tree that was in front of our porch. We will eventually extend that porch and the tree was in the way plus it was dropping purple berries on the driveway. Since he is working on refinishing the driveway, it was time to say bye-bye to the white crêpe myrtle tree.  🥲

This morning I finished my little yellow cottage painting, it’s actually quite a large painting and features high atmosphere cirrus clouds. Generally speaking, that means rain within 24 hours. Never mind, there are lots of flowers in this painting that will need a little water. LOL

It’s 24 x 30 … The largest one I’ve done for a while.

Well, now I will start the actual Thursday blog. Ha ha.

27TH ANNIVERSARY

Hey hey hey … it’s our wedding anniversary! Cheers to us 🥂🍾❤️

We’re going to dine out to celebrate … big ol’ steaks for us!

Well, it’s time to mention that the K’s are selling their Pompano Beach mansion. They’ll maintain a place in the area but also buy something up nearer us. Yay! We’re excited to have them closer!

We had a good time at Texas Roadhouse … excellent service, and great steaks. Back home, we did some front porch sitting with Mark enjoying a cigar.

Super day. 💕

Monday, October 25, 2021

Good morning. I was up early and started sorting things for the upcoming garage sale. So far, I have things priced and stacked. Many things had to be taken off eBay listing so that was another part of my morning chores.

Mark is taking apart the back yard tiki bar and we are going to sell that. Geez, it looks like I have a lot of room for a pool. LOL.

Bye bye Tiki bar.

Sunday, October 24, 2020

Good evening. Today was officially the end of archery season for Mark and Bob. It was a nice cool morning in the woods, but it has since warmed up ahead of a cold front. This coming week will be in the 70s and low 80s. Nice!

I worked on a couple of paintings today after all my chores were finished.  It was refreshing for me.

We’ve decided to do away with the back patio outside bar. Since putting on the front porch, we tend to sit out there for drinks. So, we are going to sell it at the garage sale that’s upcoming. That meant Mark had to disassemble the knicknacks,  clean the barstools and get it ready for sale. We bought that set when Linda was suffering with dementia. It was a nice place to sit with her as she enjoyed being outside.

Tonight, Lani and Markymark have requested front porch sitting with us, so we will do that as soon as they are back. They are picking up some cabinets south of Orlando for the rental house project.

Robbie’s all played out after BeeZee and I emptied the toy box. No, he doesn’t play with the toys … just tries to hump them. 😂

Saturday October 23, 2021

Good evening! It’s been a fun day here … a bit of a boat ride with the kids …

Robbie took the helm seat before we left the boathouse. 😂 And, he stayed beside Mark the entire cruise.

BeeZee sat with me … and loved the wind in her face.

We took a ride down the Dead River and past the Triangle Boat Club. It’s nice to see they have boats docking there now.

One of our old favorites, Palm Gardens is closed and being renovated.

We’re hoping it’ll be back in a bigger way! It’s a nice spot to watch the boats cruise by.

Lots of work happening there!

Then, we cruised by the ‘coming soon’ Pontoon  Saloon. There were some vehicles there, obviously working on it.

Back home, we went for a golf cart ride after dinner and met up with Nancy and Kachina. Unfortunately BeeZee barked incessantly at Kachina. 🤔 We’re thinking a citronella bark collar may be necessary. Robs is fine.  🤷‍♀️

That’s it for today.

Friday, October 22, 2021

Good afternoon. We had an early start to our day and got a lot accomplished. Doesn’t it feel good when that happens? Mark and Bob went hunting this morning! Although I won’t post a picture, they were successful.

I also had a successful day and got the sunroom’s air conditioner onto Wi-Fi. I am hoping that this will be easier to manage the fact that it randomly shuts off. Yes, I’ve been working with tech support, but so far that hasn’t fixed it.

Tonight, we met LaDonna and Wayne at Tillie’s in downtown Eustis. We shared appetizers and then ordered wings. It was busy but service was good. After we came back to our house for drinks on the front porch.

Thursday, October 21, 2021

Good morning. First thing this morning we saw Nancy and Kachina walking. Actually, Kachina was walking; well sort of hopping on 3 legs, full of energy! When I called out to them Kachina came over to get a treat. Since I wasn’t dressed yet, Mark ran out with one.  😂  We have now started our dogs on the Dr. Harvey’s Paradigm diet. Well, it got ruined with a few dog treats this week, but otherwise, they’re on it.

Mark left at 8 o’clock to help Markymark with his rental property. He really is appreciating the help. No once in a while, while I am dictating this blog content, a phrase will come up that I don’t say. It’s kind of creepy. I’ll share it below …

“How many seasons of Dexter”

Now you’ve got to admit, nothing I said above should make that happen. And yet it did, and does quite often. We always talk about the gremlins in the house making mischief, is this just another one? Do I really need to get Mark‘s friend to sage the house? (Crap! It just happened again!) 👻

There’s still some more fall cleaning going on. The curtains in the sunroom came down for a washing and are rehung. In Florida, you get lizards and geckos creeping in the house and hanging out in them. Not only do I not like it, but they make a mess. We are looking for a small fishnet so I can trap them. Mark will pick them up with his fingers and throw them out, but then they scream and cry out. I can’t stand that. 😱

The lodge, across the street, is getting a new roof today. That’s fantastic. Now I wish the terrible neighbors next-door would get rid of the two beastie old vehicles on their driveway. They are not licensed and they are not driving them. Governor DeSantis has made it illegal to make an anonymous complaint to code enforcement. He thinks people should confront them with the issue. I guess he’s all for gun violence. LOL. Bang!

(See? I am not exaggerating his idiocy. Amazon is selling bumper stickers.)

This afternoon I had a visit with our neighbors Alice and Mike. They are being featured on the Spotlight article in our newsletter. They have certainly been an interesting couple to talk with. Mike worked at the Pentagon for 36 years.

Tonight, we are going to Rose & Jim‘s for a Oktoberfest get together. It’s just a few of us, not our big neighborhood one that we usually go to. One of these days we will be back to normal when Covid is history.

Wednesday, October 20, 2021

Good evening. Well, we’ve been so busy I finally thought about the blog. We started out with our usual morning chores and then off to Advantage with our Dodge to get an oil change. While it was there, we took the Kia and went over to Hobby Lobby for a little shopping. We are trying to keep Christmas down to a minimum of this year, as we are all trying to downsize our homes. Let’s see if it will work this year, it hasn’t in previous years. LOL

We decided on taco salads today and went to Taco Bell. Ha. They don’t make taco salads anymore. What? That was one of their staples, and the best. So, we ended up at Perkins or Mark had pork chops, green beans and asparagus as they were out of lettuce to make a salad. It always amazes me that they don’t send an employee over to buy some salad stuff. Good heavens, they’re right on the same parking lot as Walmart. LOL. I had an omelette that was good, except I could’ve done without the egg shells. Yuck.

Mark found a few funnies dedicated to …

Me! 😂

And …

Marky-Mark. 🤣

When we got home this afternoon, I got the vacuum out and cleaned the inside of the two vehicles. They really needed it and they’re ready for the next adventures. Mark worked on the sunroom wall, filling in a few things we removed.

Tomorrow is a little Oktoberfest gathering with a few neighbors. Mark made some baked beans to take. That’s it for today. Does anyone still read this blog?

Sue and Wayne had an evening at the yacht club for dinner. They took this beautiful picture of the moon coming up over the ocean.

Quite gorgeous!!!

Well that’s it for our day.

Tuesday, October 19, 2021

Good morning. It’s a bright beautiful sunshiny start to our central Florida day. Randy and Dawn are coming over for shrimp tonight to celebrate Randy‘s upcoming birthday. They are so busy, we’re lucky to get a booking! 🥰

Mark is off to the woods with his buddy Bob for a morning of R ‘n R. I know they will be enjoying it with this cooler weather.  🌳

I have been cleaning house, monitoring Carlos while he mops the floors and washing dog beds. Yard service was here today, so that means sweeping out the front porch, a weekly job thanks to the darn blowers.

Granddaughter Hailey is at school to become a vet tech…

I sent her this, and she loved it. Of course we are so proud of her. 🥰

Randy and Dawn came over at 4 o’clock, we had a good visit and enjoyed her hors d’oeuvre of crab dip. Mark cooked up shrimp, and broccoli and we had a big Caesar salad. Afterwards, there was carrot cake for the birthday boy.

We had a great time! After the ice cream and cake we taught them how to play Chasing marbles. I think they enjoyed it. Since Dawn works tomorrow, they left about 830. It was a great evening.

Monday, October 18, 2021

Good morning. I was up early with Mark as he was going to help Markymark again today. I had a lot of things to get done too. One of them was to contact Hewlett-Packard regarding my laptop. I was hoping to be able to package it up and ship it in, but that was not to be. After two hours on tech-support, we had it up and running. It’s not the fastest in the world, but the new Wi-Fi helps out a lot. Anyway, I need to use it more often and run the updates!

Mark was home a little after 2 o’clock, we had a bite of lunch and then we both fell asleep for nearly 2 hours. We’ve been going and going and going lately. LOL

After dinner, we took the dogs for a walk and then a golf cart ride. I just settled on the front porch when Lani and Mark came over with a drink to join me. It was fun to hear about Lani‘s trip to Chicago and her visit with the daughters. Then, we heard a few stories of Mark and Markymark working on the rental property.

Hahaha … MM’s butt

Mark said the Wizard of Oz came to mind. Ha.

It was certainly a beautiful day and a gorgeous evening to sit out. Mark and Barb are off to the woods in the morning when it supposed to be 54°. That’s it for today. I hope you had a good one.

Sunday, October 17, 2021

Good morning. It is a beautiful cool and breezy autumn morning. Yes, real fall weather has finally come to Central Florida.

Mark went to help Markymark on his potential rental property that he is currently renovating. I am cleaning up in the sunroom, on the high shelves. But, right now it’s coffee time on the front porch!

Today was my day to sort out the upper shelves in the sunroom that collect all sorts of memorabilia. Well, they’ve gotten a little overcrowded. I did some weeding out and got a box ready for the Humane Society. They must love us, there’s always something new in their shop to sell. Ha ha.

My friend Pat wanted me to put a new bow on one of her Christmas wreaths, it’s quite cute, a grapevine snowman door wreath. I’ve never seen one like it. Anyway, I got out my Bowdabra  and made her a new triple box for it and she was thrilled. I walked it down there about 3 o’clock and had a drink with Pat and Ken. He’s going to have a look at my computer tomorrow and see if he can figure out how I can get back onto the Wi-Fi. Yeah, it’s another crazy deal with electronics at our house.

So I certainly heard this in my family, and apparently many did as this was posted on Facebook. And Sue pointed out … no wonder all our grandparents were so skinny.

Ha! Maybe we should be getting back to the original Coca-Cola formula. Apparently it worked for all the folks in those days. 😂

Mark did some repairs and removing old electrical outlets on a wall in the sunroom. At one time in its life, it was the outer wall of the house. That involves quite a lot of chipping and hammering. Now, he will plaster it and then I can paint it.  Yeah, more painting.

After dinner, I took my computer down to Ken and will see if he can get into it to get a new wireless signal. After our walk we sat on the front porch for an hour. I actually had to put a jacket on, the breeze was so cool. That’s it for this evening. Ta ta.

Friday, October 15, 2020

Good morning. We were up fairly early as Mark wanted to run the cable in the attic while it was cool. After that, he was off to Kia to drop off our SUV for recall repairs. Geez, it was there in July for a recall.

There’s plenty for me to do here today, but I am going to try and finish the (2nd) painting for the guest bathroom. The frames arrived yesterday, so there’s no excuses. Ha ha.

I talked with Nancy yesterday and amazing Kachina carries on. Nancy is feeding her Dr. Harvey’s Paradigm low carbohydrate vegetable mix with protein (added.) This is the only thing we can think of that is keeping her going so long beyond her oncologist’s prognosis! Yay Kachina.

We sure enjoyed the front porch tonight, nice breeze and in the low 80s.

The kids really like these hammocks that Mark found for them at the Humane Society Thrift store.  They are great.

That’s it for tonight.

Thursday, October 14, 2021

Good morning. It’s going to be another busy day here for us. We have an appointment to bring our fifth wheel in for the annual service.

After dropping off our rig, we went to Winter Gardens “mall” and the Lowes store. Nice store! Mark had a list of things for the new cable installation (modem hookup.)

Yeah … I had to have a couple more Scotties. 🥰

Our rig was ready in four hours and we were on the way home. That wasn’t too bad considering the amount of work they did. We got it parked in the RV port right away, all tucked in until the next adventure.

Wednesday, October 13, 2021

Wednesday, October 13, 2021

Good morning. I was up early enough, emptying our closet of things that are too big for us now. The Humane Society store will be happy to get more donations.

Mark and Bob are out archery hunting today. It’s quite a nice morning, but it’s going to be hot later on. One of the weathercaster is called this season Hotumn. 😂 Apparently it’s going to feel that way in Orlando today. At our place at 79° right now, and quite lovely.

It’s a crazy busy week here was taking the RV for its annual maintenance service, and then the Kia for recall repairs. Whatever they are doing, we now have a lifetime warranty on the engine.

I had a heck of a time connecting our Blink cameras to the new modem. Wayno saved the day! He figured it out and they’re back online! Yay. Carlos is a bit more of a challenge … there’s no one to talk to! I emailed a question to the company.

After supper, we took the dogs for a golf cart ride. It was a really nice evening. We met Markymark coming back from the rental property. We invited him over for a drink on the front porch. It was fun to catch up on his news. That was it for today.

Tuesday, October 12, 2021

Good morning! We left Saint Augustine at 9 this morning in a light rain … just enough to make it muddy.

We arrived home safely … began our chores … then worked on installing our new Xfinity wifi. Two hours later … the tech support claims the new modem is ‘not good.’ WTF? More tomorrow!

Monday, October 11, 2021

Monday, October 11, 2021

Good morning y’all … it’s another beautiful morning here in the Saint Augustine area. Mark cooked breakfast, we both tidied up the rig and said goodbye to Mary and Hank.

This afternoon, we are taking the dogs with us and going for a drive a boat tour of Saint Augustine. Both LaDonna and Wayne (and us) have been here a few times, and decided we’d do a drive about to  get a few pictures.

Nice museum, lighthouse keepers home and light.

Wild surf today!

We took the dogs back to the RV for their dinner and then went with LaDonna and Wayne to wild wings for a snack type dinner. It was really good. Afterwards we joined Mitzie and Richard at their site for a bonfire.

Sunday, October 10, 2021

Sunday, October 10, 2021

Good morning y’all … we’ll be grilling steaks today at the campsite! This is a great place for shady sites! Love it.

We needed a few things at the store and took a short ride to Walmart. I was hoping to pick up a couple of T-shirts but no luck. Everything in the sparse women’s clothing section was long sleeved, too warm for our Florida region. Back at the RV, Mark and Wayno set up their BBQ’s and the picnic tables.

I painted for an hour … tweaking some areas of the canvas. LaDonna created a couple varieties of deviled eggs and the guys watched football on L’s outdoor TV. Drinkies were had.

Hank n Mary joined we 4 at 5ish with a glass of wine and their wee Tibetan spaniel, Kirby. Our Scotties were banished to the rig and spent the next 3 hours looking out the door at the goings on. More football … cooking and more cocktails. 😬

Finally we all sat at one pik-a-nik table. Mary looked at me (my Viking horns may have been poking out from my unruly hair) and asked … “Who’s going to say grace?”

I didn’t miss a beat … 😇 “I will!!! GRACE. That’s it, that’s all you’re getting, now eat!” 😂

Later, LaDonna and I walked over to Mitzie and Richard’s for a jovial bonfire and were still giggling. She said, “The Viking was in full gear today. I nearly choked on my drink when you said “GRACE” … now eat.” OMG, we couldn’t stop laughing.

At bedtime, Mark said “Goodnight Grace.” 😂

Saturday, October 9, 2021

Saturday, October 9, 2021

Good morning sunshine! We’re patio sitting this morning with the Scotties. It’s lovely here, a bit sandy, dirty, but thanks to the patio mat, live able.

Just for giggles …

Last night was fun. We saw a lot of friends we hadn’t seen for a while, and got caught up. The drinks were flowing, and we didn’t come home until around 9 o’clock. Then, we sat outside for an hour and had drinks with LaDonna and Wayne. Then, I dashed into watch “ancient aliens“ on TV. It was great.

Well, it’s 515 and we are ready to walk up in just a couple of minutes. It’s been mostly a relaxing day today, and Mark, LaDonna and I went in the pool. Was about 82°, a tad chilly for us. Dinner tonight is chicken Marcella or spaghetti and meatballs, followed by a band in the pavilion. It’ll be a fun time.

Our wee group … about 80 campers this weekend! Mary & Hank joined us this weekend.

We came back to the RV and had a campfire. It was a beautiful night!

Friday, October 8, 2021

Friday, October 8, 2021

Good morning! While I should be decluttering my closet, it’ll have to wait. There’s a VIP Camping Club event in Saint Augustine! Have you been to North America’s oldest city?

SO … we will enjoy some touring about, picture taking. But first … friends we haven’t seen since Covid began! Brenda & Mark, Richard & Mitzi, Patty …

Thursday October 7, 2021

Oh it’s an early start even for me! After tossing and turning for an hour, well, it’s 3:24 and I’ve already emptied the dishwasher. 😅

My home is relatively clutter-free which brings me a sense of calm, happy, stress-free living. (Too much clutter makes me “twitchy.”) The reasons for attaining this lifestyle are …

1. To minimize fall-related injuries. (Think of decluttering as a safety benefit!) Too many shoes at your doorway? Scatter-mats? Falls are the number one cause of household injuries and deaths.

2. Improve your mental health. De-cluttering gives your mind a place to rest. (Why are you keeping things you don’t use? Often it’s sentimental … but more often it’s because you ‘paid such and such for it.’)

3. Maintain physical health by de-cluttering. Ease your allergies and asthma. (When I worked as a Realtor, I saw clutter for what it truly is … dust mite havens and cockroach fodder.) A large collection of dolls, a bit eerie, caused a client to lose their dream job opportunity in Vegas. Their home was not-sale-able for the price they required to move.

4. Boost your home’s value! A clean, attractive home sells for more, and less days on the market. Why? A cluttered home just doesn’t look attractive. It appears to have a lack of storage space, and to be poorly maintained. Tidy up!

5. Everything in its place helps you find things easier! Less stress … better life.

How did we get all this dang clutter? Well, we simply own too much stuff! One coffee pot is great … so why have more hanging about? Donate it. Let someone else have it. You bought the latest cooking gadget … if you use it, great. Donate the one you just replaced. Easy peasy folks … it’s just owning too much stuff; a 1st world problem.

So there you have the reasons for decluttering … how do we achieve the task?

Look at your home through the eyes of your guests.
Go outside, look at your home from the street. Are there areas of clutter? How’s the entrance? Walk in your front door, stand there for 2 minutes … note areas of clutter. Really see your entry through a guest’s eyes.

Solution … Create a space for keys, hats, dog leashes, whatever your needs are. (Get rid of what’s not working for you!) An example …

A hall tree … many variations are available to suit any decor. Some Ikea hacks for back door mudrooms are impressive.

Utilizing 3M hooks … on the back of doors and cabinet doors helps to corral things you need, just out of sight.

To conceal clutter, invest in enclosed storage pieces for your living room, dining room and family room. The storage pieces will allow you to organize (and hide your clutter) so surfaces stay clean and minimal. It’s lovely to have nice display pieces staged when the clutter is gone. (Decorative baskets are a great way to store dog toys, or a sofa blanket!)

Making sure that everything has a place is very important, but creating a space that feels open, fresh and comfortable is very important too! When decluttering your home, have a look at your furniture arrangement. Most of us have just too much furniture in a room.  Make space for 3 feet of walking space between dressers and beds, coffee tables and sofas,
to promote a relaxed and easily accessible layout.

Solution … Do you really need that extra chair? Perhaps your kitchen set came with six chairs but you only need four. Donate the other two. Free up space for how you really live your life.

If your home is overflowing with pillows and decorative accessories, and you really love them all, box up a few and place them in a closet. When you need a refresh for a change of season, choose items from that box to mix things up a bit.

We try to establish a “one in, one out“ rule. If we want to buy something, we have to give something up. Try to be more thoughtful and deliberate about the items that come into your home. This makes it easier to keep your home organized and will also save you money and time. ✅

Throughout each room as you declutter your home, look at the furniture flow as well. Perhaps a chair fits better elsewhere? Move things around, take your time.

Donating items and furniture feels great! You’re creating calm in your life and helping someone else!
