Monday, January 24, 2022

Good morning. We were awakened at 5:30 with a power outage. Our sound machine of ocean waves quit, and we both woke up. The first notification from Duke energy was at 671 homes were affected, and now it is 1030 and there are 60 homes affected, and we are one of them. Hell hath frozen over. ๐Ÿฅถ

Actually, we are OK as we have the fireplace. The kids are wearing their winter jackets and we have the fire going. It just made for a different day than what we had planned. Mark had to run to the post office with an eBay sale and stopped in at Winn-Dixie for a few supplies. Now he is on the way home to start the generator to keep the fridge going. Although it never got lower than 36° here at our house, we had the heaviest frost on the nearby rooftops that I’ve ever seen in 21 years of owning this house.

Looks like a thick blanket of snow! It’s frost at 36°F. Weird.

Robbie and Belize are feeling toasty warm, sitting on the sofa snuggled up in there Sherpa jackets.

Yeah, cosy.

Apparently it got colder in the Villages overnight, down to 30°F. The K’s house was 66 with the little heater on that we loaned them. (We bought two of those little heaters in Oklahoma City in 2011. We’ve used them numerous times in the RV since then.) They are having trouble with their whole house HVAC system and have had a couple of repairman out already. Apparently, the system needs replacing immediately.  ๐Ÿคจ

Fortunately, our heat came on at 10:56. Duke energy said it was equipment damage. So, there must’ve been an accident somewhere that took down a pole.

We spent the afternoon tidying the garage which has become Ebay central and listing more items. Hours and hours of messing about. ๐Ÿ˜…

We sat on the front porch for a while this afternoon with the dogs, and Mark had a cigar. Now, it’s TV time. Hope you had a good day … and stayed warm.
