Mark and I were up today at 5:45 and on the road by 730 to Sue and Wayne‘s to work for the day. Mark had the dubious pleasure of taking down the upper shelves in the laundry room. He discovered many drilled pilot holes looking for studs. Ha ha. Well, whoever installed those cabinets never did find studs so just put screws into drywall and hung the shelves. We couldn’t believe how they were staying on the wall themselves, never mind that they had things on said shelves!
While Mark was working on that, I mixed up several batches of white paint and eventually came up with a bit of yellow and a bit of red and voila - a perfect match. There were a lot of touchups to be done as the previous owner was a real clod. 😂 So needed other things touched up, like the dining room chairs, a shelf on the wall unit, a scratch on a mirror, so I was busy dabbing paint for hours.
Mark had to run to Lowe’s for something today and decided he better open the other cabinet box to see that everything was there. He must’ve had a premonition, as a door and the shelves were both missing from the package. So, Wayne will have to return that when he is back in town and Mark will buy another one for install Tuesday.
We hung a mirror and a few pictures, and some candle sconces as well today. Then, we loaded up the boxes that were at the door for donation and for more eBay listings and headed home at 4:30. It was a full day of puttering about.
Back home, Mark unloaded the Kia while I sorted things out and re-boxed items for the Humane Society store. Now, it’s 630 and we just had our dinner in front of the TV watching the end of the football game. It was a busy day, but a good day.
