Good morning sunshine. It’s a front door open kind of start to our day.  Diane phoned to say Kris was on his way to pick up the recliner. That was perfect timing as we were setting up the bed for Donny. As it turned out, Kris also took the fire ring in his van.

Had an eBay sale overnight of an old Boy Scouts book from 1916. It belonged to Lew ... he got $35. Mark took it to the post office along with our tax package to Stanley. Mark no sooner got back home and we had a sale of another of Lew‘s books. What the heck? Anyway, Mark was going grocery shopping so he popped in and mailed the book at the post office.

The golf cart seat covers arrive in today’s mail along with the new side mirrors. With any luck we will get them installed this afternoon. It’s a gorgeous 81° here now. Does this mean winter is over? I sure as hell hope so.

Well, happy hour occurred so the seat covers and mirrors for The Caddy have to wait. We gabbed on the phone to Randy. He had just finished up staining the dock and had ice on his knee. Maybe Randy and Rick can get a deal on a pair of knees!

Tonight we watched the Winter Olympics opening ceremonies. Nice to see but doesn’t compare to Beijing!

Well, tomorrow this will be us ...

when Pam and Donny arrive! Yahoo. YeeHaw. PARTAY!

Good morning. The cheddar Bay biscuits were absolutely delicious. Itchy eyes and indigestion aren’t much fun. Yes, I know I have a wheat allergy, but hey, it was my birthday! My dad always said “what’s the good of abirthday if you can’t do what you want!” That’s a good one dad, but boy have we suffered the next day over the years. 🤣 Anyway, I was up at 5 AM using eyedrops, taking Tums and reading till 630 ... and no, none of this happens when I stick to my low-carbohydrate program. 🙄

So, I took the dogs out at five and it was heavy fog, hence FOGGYVILLE. Ha. It stayed cloudy most of  the day! Mark avoided washing windows by redesigning the bird feeder. There’s one super acrobatic squirrel who gets in there and chases birds away. So now, we have a 2 story feeder!

It looks like a pontoon boat to me. 😲 Now we just have to wait and see ...

We called Rick this evening and had a good chat on FaceTime. He’s still hopeful to buy the property across the street, but it’s a long shot. It’s pretty challenging buying from one country in another. Rules just don’t match. Maybe when he’s done with Carrie’s place, he and Ruth will fly down here to shop (and visit.)

So tonight we enjoyed our front porch for a couple of hours. It was beautiful ... breezy and 72F. Tonight, the Olympics are starting so that will be our entertainment. Ta Ta

Wednesday, February 7, 2018

Good afternoon. It’s a lovely 81°. I may be getting a bigger birthday present than I ever thought possible. Remember the roof damage we had on the house after hurricane Irma? Well, I had gotten nowhere with the insurance company. First adjuster who was out circled a few shingles that had blown back in the wind but they both missed (or ignored?) the hail damage!

Eustis Roofing ... they have several homes in Harbor Shores with hail damage including one right behind ours and another one street away! Anyway, the RVport, 1/2 of the boathouse roof and our shingle roof took a hit. We definitely need a new roof. 😱 It might be time for Morgan & Morgan Hurricane attorneys.

So, I ran to the store and got a few things and took donations to the Humane Society. When I got back, Mark had the golf cart ready for a test run with the dogs in the new pen. Sweet. One of the things I worried about riding around the neighborhood with them was a big dog that would race to his property line and glare at us. No problem now!

Hey, and there’s room for another human as pal Lynn says. We had a great ride this afternoon. 💋 🤗 to Marky, thank you for ALL your hard work for my birthday pressie; I love it. (The new seat covers were put in the mail today.) Mark is going to paint the wheels black and spray the wheelcovers to match the new seat covers. Styling!

Now it’s 530 and we’re just waiting for Randy and Dawn to arrive to celebrate my birthday with a bottle of special champagne. 🥂🍾 Afterward, we are all going to Red Lobster for dinner. It’s lobsterfest, so I expect we will come home with full bellies.

Yes ... a feast was had ...

a fun night! ❤️ RanDawn brought 3 birthday pressies ... a NICE bottle of Chardonnay ... cool copper bar ware pineapple cups ... and a color-coordinated hand lotion pump for the black and white bathroom. WOWSA! You two spoiled me. ❤️

On Facebook, I had 50+ birthday wishes plus some beautiful cards in snail mail and others in Messenger. Wow. I’m thankful for every birthday wish. 🎂

1:30 today is SpaceX heavy launch 🚀 to Mars. Huge risk is going through the Van Allen belt that protects our planet 🌎 ... we WATCHED from the middle of Lake Eustis!  It was the fastest launch 🚀 we’ve ever seen! This rocket will circle Mars a few times then orbit the Sun for A BILLION YEARS! What a great afternoon! (We did run out of beer and wine though.) 🤪

Robbie and BeeZee enjoyed their boat ride with us. However, the redesigned golf cart box needs redesigning. Neither doggie felt secure on the back so Mark will “cage” it in for safety.

The Caddy’s looking fresh, kind of Key West-ish. It’s still chug-a-lugging when I start up so it’s off to the GC shop next month. New seat covers are on order and the wheels have to be done yet. But hey, happy (early) birthday to me!

Tonight, we’re relaxing...it was a busy day!

Monday, February 5, 2018

Well the Philadelphia Eagles won fair and square. It was a great game. Why oh why do fans raze the city; breaking windows, and causing mayhem? Sad.

It’s a beautiful day here, (74F) perfect for finishing our golf cart project. Well, we worked five hours painting the second coat on The Caddy and doing the black accents. Tomorrow, we’ll reassemble put it back then do the touch ups. It turned out awesome.

Robbie and BZ are going to be so tired tonight as they have been watching us from the front porch all day. The doors been open since 8 o’clock, perfect weather. Our new seat covers have been ordered, and should be here in about a week.

We were sitting on the front porch enjoying our wine after all the painting, and saw a squirrel shimmy up the big square fence post to the big bird feeder that we thought would be squirrel proof. NOT!

Wah ha ha Ha ha ha now Mark is greasing the pole so the poor wee squirrel can’t get up to the seed. (*~!** squirrels!) 🤣

Tomorrow, 1:30 EST the bigly rocket is being launched! (Mark says we’re going to the middle of Lake Eustis to watch!) A Tesla car is being launched to  Mars ... with a robot at the wheel. 🤖

It’s TV time ... hope you had a great Monday. ✅

Sunday, February 4, 2018

Good morning! Are you ready for some FOOTBALL? The Eagles and the Patriots ... we’re both cheering for the Eagles; Tom Brady has 5 Super Bowl rings already! Yes, he’s the best quarterback ... blah blah blah ... but, may the Eagles fly high today! 🦅

Bwahahaha ... “Deflate-gate”

There will be no second coat going on the golf cart today because ...

it’s forecast to be a rainy day here. Mark moved the golf cart under the tongue of the fifth wheel to keep it dry. Tomorrow we shall complete The Caddy’s paint job.

RanDawn are going to Dan’s for a SB party ... Suwannee are going out for Sunday breakfast with the doggies then staying home for the game.

My sewing project was fraught with gremlins ... skipped stitches, dulled scissors, etc. Twice the thread broke and 2 bobbins ran out. My half-hour task turned into 1 1/2 hours. 😝 Blah.

Mark found the energy to groom the Scotties ... they look so tiny after a defluffing! Next, rub-a-dub dub in the tub for the rascals.

Robbie’s happiest after the bath is done. 😍

Daddy’s washing our sweet BeeZee ... 💕🐾

Now, it’s 3:45 and time to find the football game. Who are you rooting for?

RanDawn ended up home to watch the game too ... weather cancelled Dan’s party. No problem.

Mark and I watched the game till 10 o’clock when I faded out and trudged off to bed. 🙄 What a quitter, eh?

Saturday, February 3, 2018

Good afternoon. It’s a rather cloudy, dull day here in the 60s. Mark decided it was a perfect day to prep the golf cart for a paint job. First ... we took the doggies for a long ride before we began disassembly!

Meanwell, Simplex Aluminum finished our sunroom roof repair. ✅ They’ve always done an excellent job for us and I’m certain this will be no exception. Thank you to Tom and staff for getting this done.

Stripping ...

The American flag and red tape were a bugger to get off. We learned that “cutting in” with a brush is tough with this paint ... better to roll it on with a fine foam roller, then tip-it with an artsy-fartsy hake brush.

The first coat is on ...

Wow, that’s BRIGHT. 😱

Randy and Dawn popped in about 430 to see how our project was going. We were happy to see them ... Dawn suggested going to Stavros and we all thought that sounded good!

Sue and Wayne had a gala party at the yacht club, so they were out enjoying life too.

Rain is forecast for tomorrow afternoon, so painting will not resume until Monday. All the black has to be done yet plus another coat of the seafoam green. It’s going to be Key West fabulous.
