Sunday, March 31, 2019

Good evening. Yes, that’s how this day went. Mark woke me at 8:30 and said he was towing Marky Mark‘s boat home from downtown Eustis. So, I got dressed and went along to help. It was a beautiful ride across the lake with just a light wind. Here’s a picture of Marky Mark enjoying his last day on the lake before he heads home to Canada and snow. Yes, they had 8 inches of snow yesterday in Cambridge Ontario.

He and Lani had gone to dinner by boat and then to watch the Saturday night buskers in downtown Eustis. When they went back, their boat wouldn’t start. Anyway, we got it towed down the canal and his boat safely on the lift. He will deal with the engine problem later on. Since no good deed goes unpunished πŸ˜‚, our boat acted up! It seems to be a fuel (filter?) issue. We shall look into it later.

We puttered around getting a few things done today and then met Randy & Dawn at Stavros at 6 o’clock. Connor was there to add to our fun. The dinners were extra good tonight! It was the first time in a while that RanDawn rode the motorcycle over. Randy’s working out at the gym has paid off. πŸ‘πŸ» That’s a heavy machine to handle.

Sue and Wayne got home safely from their short-week away in the RV. The rally they attended was very good ... lots of perks! πŸ‘πŸ»

That’s it for today. It’s now after eight and time to watch a little TV.

Saturday March 30, 2019

Good morning y’all. Our plans today are to putter about washing vehicles, laundry and cleaning. Mark had a few visitors while he was outside. Jack T. stopped by on his recumbent bike for a visit, then Lani and Marky-Mark with Jake and Henry. (It’s 2 days til Jake’s 21st birthday.)

Randy and Dawn are coming over for drinks before we all go to Karen and Pete’s for Chicken Marsala. It’s a celebration for Pete’s birthday.

It’s now 10:50 and we had a great time at Pete’s birthday dinner. Karen cooked chicken marsala, potatoes and brussels sprouts. The highlight for me, peanut butter cake. Ha ha. I think we all had a fun time!

Here’s Pete being the maestro of his birthday candles! ❤️ We all had a lot of fun, lots of crazy jokes, crazy RV stories and just crazy stories in general. Happy birthday Pete.

We were home by 9:30, let the kids out and all was well.

Friday, March 29, 2019

Good afternoon. It’s been a busy day here. First thing this morning Mark began his project on the house gable by the RV port. This is the one that’s easiest access to work from the attic. Well, it wasn’t quite as easy as he thought it might be. Old man Yates had nailed down all sorts of odds and sods of wood and miscellanea to walk on up there! Of course that had to be removed before Mark could have a clean surface for attaching the bracing. While he was doing that, I was cleaning house. I helped a little by taking things from him as he passed him down from the attic and putting them in the garbage can. But, that’s about all I could help with today.

Sue and Wayne are away at a rally on the West Coast of Florida. I’m sure they’re having a good time and meeting other Prevost owners.

Us? Well we’re going to dinner with three couples from the camping group that live nearby. I only know the two of them, the other two are friends of Karen & Pete from the club. Today is Pete‘s birthday so I baked him a triple chocolate cake to take over. He can eat it all by himself if he wants to! (Karen is a professional chef, but she doesn’t like to bake.)

This Mexican restaurant was packed! They managed to squeeze us into a booth and pull up a table. L-R Wayne, Rick, Dee, me, Karen, Pete, Mark and LaDonna.

We stopped in afterward at Karen & Pete’s for a nightcap before heading for home. Tomorrow, more fun is planned.

Thursday, March 28, 2019

Good morning. We’re all done with tidying up the RV and we’re ready to put it away until it goes for service next Wednesday. However, today I was just “off” and we could not get it into the RV port. There isn’t room for error, so we’re taking a break! Well, I am.

Half an hour later, we parked the RV with no problem. Schweeet.

This Bahamian gecko ran toward me when I was sitting out at John Prince on Tuesday. Haha ... he scared me!

Mark decided it’s time to reinforce the gables on our roof and went shopping for the supplies. πŸ‘πŸ» So, there’s a new project going on here. Once all 3 gables are reinforced we’ll order a new roof! (The insurance check is “in the mail.)

Along the canal from John Prince we saw a roseate spoonbill ... so beautiful 😍.

This afternoon Nancy hosted game day. There were 14 of us! That’s a big crowd! I played Rummicube with Elaine, Deenna and Nancy on the back porch. It was really windy with whitecaps on the lake. It was so nice!

Back home, Mark made chicken fried rice for dinner ... then we relaxed. Tomorrow we’re starting on the “easy” gable ... at least accessible from inside the house.

Wednesday, March 27, 2019

Good evening!  This day just “dis-da-peered” as Matt said 26 years ago.

Mark and I got our travel chores done then went to breakfast at Jo-Jo’s with Sue and Wayne. It was a cute place with good food. Afterward, Mark and I left for home by 11:15

Traffic is heavy in south Florida but thins out by Jupiter. It was a good drive but the north wind was a steady 40 MPH for 240 miles. Our fuel mileage was 9.8 😱 today. When we got home, Marky-Mark was happy to see the plants we scored for him at our campout.

Since I didn’t take any pics today I’ll share a couple more from yesterday.

Matt showed off his amazing head of hair! OMG it’s so thick!

Hailey and Izzy had lots of fun!

After unloading, Randy called to chat. He and Dawn went to The Villages last night. It was so busy because of great entertainment that they could scarcely walk around. (The snow birds will be heading home any day now and things will get back to our slower summer pace.)

Tonight, Sue and Wayne are on Palm Beach having dinner at a friend’s home.

(I bet those gorgeous flowers gave Wayne a few sneezes!) 😜

Mark is cat-napping while watching American Idol with me. That’s it. Ta ta til tomorrow.

Tuesday March 26, 2019

Good afternoon. We’ve been having some Internet problems in this area and I had to call VERIZON. It seems to be all better now and I can finally begin today’s blog.   We spent our morning tidying up and getting ready for a family picnic today! Sue and Wayne have just arrived at 1:30 and will park in the lakefront site right across from us.

They’re here ...

Mark helped by directing Wayne into Site 57.

Poor Wayne was really suffering with allergies! He had to stay in the RV most of the day.

Hailey, Isabella and Tiffany were all good fun. We had lots of laughs together.

Mark and Matt ... being photobombed by Izzy πŸ˜‚

Mark pulled together a good pucnic dinner of Mac ‘n Cheese, baked beans, potato salad and fried chicken. Sue joined us for dinner but had to deliver a plate to Wayne.

The girls had fun climbing the beautiful banyan tree at our Site 58.

We had a fun afternoon!  Hailey is the indoor-type while Izzy is exactly opposite. (Sue gave the girls some coaching on getting along as sisters.) (Nicely said.) We sure caught up on the news and shared old funny stories. It was a school night so Tiffany and Matt took the kids home at 8:30. ❤️

Mark and I poured a wine and went to visit with Wayne and Sue til 11ish.

Monday, March 25, 2019

Good morning. It’s nearly 11 o’clock and we will be going to the laundromat shortly. Mark will be doing penance with me as he did not want a washer and dryer in this RV. 😜

Let’s hope this is third time lucky. I have worked on this blog and have had Internet problems today. Nothing would post. So I’m going to test this before I spend anymore time.

So that worked. Ha ha. We took a ride today with the dogs down to see the ocean and along the waterfront. You really can’t see the ocean at all along this stretch! It makes me appreciate Delray Beach and Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale Beach. All three of those areas have beautiful views of the ocean. We did our shopping and a few chores and came home in time for happy hour.

K’s will be in the space by the lake tomorrow!

We love the old ficus tree that is beside our rig. The trunk and the root system is quite amazing. We were looking at a stand of bamboo trees at the water. I remember reading how beneficial they are to this planet. They produce 24% more oxygen than most trees and use up more carbon dioxide. So, it would be nice to have a few but they are pretty invasive! Perhaps in patio pots? So, we ordered some seeds and we will see what we can do with them.

Yeah, we ordered the rare, purple variety. 😜

The Intracoastal Waterway at Lake Worth ... very wide and a lovely blue.

There were a few neat areas on Lake Worth Avenue and art deco buildings in great condition.

I thought this painting popped!

All in all, we had a good day and a nice drive about. We have a few places to check out on our next visit. πŸ‘πŸ»

Tomorrow, Matt, Tiffany, Hailey and Isabella are joining us and the K’s for a cookout at the RV Park.

Sunday March 24, 2019

Good morning 🌞 We left Crystal River at 10 o’clock, not too bad considering our late bedtime last night. The no-see-ums were out this morning and they got Mark a few times. Up til then, they hadn’t been a problem. (That is a cool area!)

So now, we’re off to Boynton Beach about 260 miles away to visit with Matt and family. John Prince Park is the nearest Campground, and quite a nice county park.

It’s nearly 3 o’clock and our ETA is 3:45. It’ll be fun to see everyone tonight.

L-R Tiffany, Hailey, Julie, Mark, Matt and Izzy at Rosalitas Tex-Mex. It’s a nice restaurant with good quality food. We had a good time. Afterward they came back to the RV for a visit. Hailey and Izzy played ball with BeeZee first ... then Robbie devised his own game of catch with the girls. They were sure having fun. Matt and Tiffany have a lovely family with lots of animals at home. They are obviously very happy.

Saturday, March 23, 2019

Good morning! It’s a lazy morning for the Scotties and me ... but Mark went for coffee and donuts at the pool deck. Nevermind, I can’t tolerate anything with wheat anymore! (Wheezing and coughing.) 🀨 So I had boiled eggs and rice cakes.

Robbie is getting his brushing ... did you know ... It’s National Puppy Day?”

Mark and I took the kids and went for a long walk down to the boat ramp, the docks and around the lake. It was an absolutely beautiful morning in the 60s. They didn’t mind walking at all ... and were perfectly behaved! The lady next-door to us said “your dogs are so good, they never bark.” πŸ˜‡

At 1 o’clock we went to the plant exchange that Karen had set up. I brought home a stick that will eventually be a beautiful Hawaiian plant ... it’s called Plumeria. We brought some queen palms and loquat tree starts for Marky-Mark.

At 6 o’clock the fun began with a catered dinner of corned beef, cabbage and potatoes or Shepherd’s pie.

The 5 piece band was great ... lots of line dancing music ... of course we chose to sit with the fun table!

Pete joined our table later and was quite creative with beer cans ...

that led to more fun with Kent balancing 4 tall cans on his head. πŸ€ͺ The band was having fun playing along with our craziness and played an extra half hour.

Afterward, the group from our table had a bonfire at Sandra and CJ’s. Finally we turned in at 1:30. Tons of laughs and many stories shared. πŸ˜‚

Friday, March 22, 2019

Good morning. Egad, we slept until 9 o’clock this morning! Mark cooked breakfast while I tidied the rig and fed the Scotties. (They had scrambled eggs, pumpkin purΓ©e, carrots and mixed greens.)

We sat outside with the kids for an hour before going to kunch with Pete, Karen, Kent and Gerry. We went to Crumps in Homossa. What a nice place on the river.

Good lunch. There’s an island of monkeys living across the way ... fun to watch; plus a boat launch! (That’s always fun!)

This neat pontoon boat has an upper sundeck! 😎

Back at the RV we sat out ... Mark with a pre-nap beer and cigar!

Tonight is potluck at the clubhouse ... we’re taking cheesecake and fruit slice candies. πŸ˜‹ Later, it’s a bonfire!

Thursday March 21, 2019

Good morning! It was a lovely 60F when we pulled away at 9:45 for our RV adventure! We’re off to Crystal River RV Resort for a 3 night VIP CAMPOUT.

44 is a nice, smooth highway with wildflowers in the median. We met Gerry and Rod in their Allegro.

We got Site 185 ... concrete pad and pretty roomy. It was nice to sit outside with the stiff breeze off the Crystal River. There are plenty of snowbirds in this park! And the prices are pretty aggressive for this part of Florida. Still, it’s a nice place to stay awhile. Tonight we’re going to Margarita Breeze for dinner with the VIPers.

Cocktail hour with Petey ... Cheers!

Lexy with Karen at Happy Hour.

At 5:30, we headed to Margarita Breeze for dinner. It’s a really nice spot on the Crystal River with a great view. Because it was so windy, we elected to eat inside. There were 28 of us, the service was great and the food very very good. It was a fun evening.

Selfie silliness ... pretty good group picture!

One table of 3 ...

We had to head back to the campground as one of the members had arrived, when they actually weren’t supposed to until tomorrow. Karen had to sort it out and find a place to put them. That done, we poured a glass of wine and went to their place to sit and yak until 1030. We always enjoy spending time with them.

Tomorrow, Mark and I are going to the Three Sisters Springs to see the manatee.

Wednesday, March 20, 2019

Good afternoon sunshine! It’s been a busy day here. We loaded a few things into the RV before Mark went shopping and I went to our monthly neighborhood luncheon. It was Fish Camp this time.

Good turnout ... the food was great, served nice and hot! It’s always fun to catch up with the gals.

Our Wisteria is blooming! Well, it’s just starting ... but you can count me as happy! Bonemeal seems to be the trick with our sandy Florida soil. πŸ₯°

We had a text from our attorney today and went to the office to sign the release. Now the insurance company has 20 days to get our check to us. We shall see what happens. Maybe ... fingers crossed 🀞

this evening, we met Randy, Dawn, Makenna and Charlotte at the bowling alley. It was a fun evening. $1 games, $1 beer and $2 hot dogs.

Charlotte dropped her bowling ball on Randy’s foot ... yikes! πŸ˜‚

RanDawn have the granddaughters for 2 nights this week. It’s fun for all ... shopping and a bit of spoiling is going on. πŸ₯°

The girls had new outfits on for our bowling night. 😜

Bonnie and I texted a bit today and caught up on news.
She and hubs Roger work hard with their dog handling. Chief now has his “novice” trick certification ... and I read the tricks to Mark. He said, “Tell Bonnie we want a refund, ours don’t do shit.”  We had such a laugh.

Chief’s novice dog trick certification ...

Chief gave Bonnie a “high 5” ❤️ Congratulations!

Tuesday, March 19, 2019

Good morning. I was awake at six, got up and did a few odds and ends. Now it’s coffee time while watching Expedition Unknown. Josh Gates, crazy adventurer, is fun to watch ... but I’m content to enjoy the scenery from the sofa with BeeZee on my lap. 😜

We’re taking the Scotties to our vet today for a Cytopoint shot. It seems that Spring is a tough season for itching. Benadryl isn’t cutting it at the moment ... so ca-ching ... $55 x 2 and they’ll be comfortable for months! πŸΎπŸ’•

Arby’s opened a new location near us. The mailer enticement was a free roast beef sandwich ... plus a buy 1 get 1.  It was certainly busy ... but worth the wait. Yum. We’ll be back!

That’s Robbie! C’mon dad, where’s the beef?

BeeZee has good manners for eating in the car, 😜.

However, BeeZee was such a brat at the Vet’s ... she went right into defensive mode as we entered the building and scared a Doberman; the poor guy peed. 😜 The Vet was happy they’ve lost weight on our home cooked diet. BeeZee is 18.5 and Robbie 24.5. ... absolutely perfect! (Now if the pet parents could lose a few ...)

It was a complete afternoon of running around. The kids enjoyed being in the car and looking about. We’ve had on and off rain so it was the day to get everything done.

Tomorrow’s a busy day ... loading the RV ... lunch with the girls ... dinner and bowling! Whew. πŸ˜‚

Monday, March 18, 2019

Hey, it’s a great day here in Central Florida! We were both slightly fuzzy this morning after our fun yesterday. Now, we need to get organized for an RV adventure to Crystal River and Boynton Beach.

Haha ... it’s true enough. Just add catered dinners and free drinks then you’ll understand our VIP Camping Club. 😜

It’s 9ish now and we’re into American Idol ... the Scotties had a big golf cart ride, rawhides, home baked cookies ... and we had wine, lemon chicken, potatoes and broccoli. It was a typically good day.

Did someone say RVING? Robbie gets nicely combed out, then proceeds to “fix” his beard on the black carpet. πŸΎπŸ’•

Sunday, March 17, 2019

Good morning y’all ... it was an afternoon spent at Fish Camp with Marky-Mark too. We got there early enough to get a good seat at the bar.

Our annual wearing of the green!

Lots of drinks ‘n guggles!

Haha! No hands Guinness.

MarkyπŸ€Mark ... missing Lani but putting on an Irish smile anyway.

RanDawn had been at Daytona Beach for the weekend ... but came to join us for some St. Patrick’s fun at The Fish Camp.

After eats and drinks we went to MarkyπŸ€Mark’s lodge to shoot pool.

We had lots of laughs ... Lee, Lynn and their friend Peggy popped in for a visit/drink. More fun!

Back home, my sweet leprechaun has fallen asleep with his finger on the remote. Man, those race cars are really speeding! 😜
