Thursday the K’s living room furniture was delivered and everything was good! Easy peasy. Well … yesterday was our living room furniture delivery and nothing went according to plan. 🙄
Macy’s white glove service was terrific! The problem was our sales agent ordered the left and right ends of the sectional reversed. The poor guys had it unloaded and uncrated of course before the problem was evident. So, we sent it back! It would have been months before we had a complete, useable place to sit.
Next was City Furniture delivering coffee and end tables for the K’s. Mark opened the boxes, assembled them and discovered problems with both tables. (it just wasn’t a good day for deliveries.) 😬 They’ll have to be replaced.
Next, we heard news of a long lost friend from Canada. Robert Bruce McPhail was a member of Winnipeg’s RMYC where my family met him. Bruce’s parents were deceased and he, along with his friend Bob Nichols commissioned a steel boat through Purvis in Riverton. The LaTinosa arrived a year later at the Yacht Club docks. There the big tub was hauled out and drydocked for Bruce to complete. He worked on it, but the boat never hit the water again! It was sad as this was a project Bruce and his late father dreamed of doing after seeing the original in Italy. So, we knew Bruce in both Canada and the USA. Our family immigrated in the late 70’s to Florida. Bruce and Bob soon bought a condo building in Broward County just blocks from our family home. People come and go in our lives. Over the years I’ve wondered where Bruce was. Bob Nichols passed away about 1990 we’d heard.
Then, a cold case from Florida hits the news in Canada and a mutual friend spots it. (It was a gruesome death … here’s the story if you want to read it.)
