Saturday, August 21, 2021

Good afternoon all y’all. Mark and I were up and on the road by 9:20 … ready for some mountain air. It seemed a big task getting ready as we hadn’t used our rig since June! Tires had to be checked, clothes switched out … lots of details. It was a hot week with temps in the 90’s!

LaDonna and Wayno are an hour behind us. They pickup their rig from storage near Wildwood. It’ll be PARTAY time by 4 o’clock at our halfway stop. LaDonna was ready for a beer 🍻 at 11 o’clock. πŸ₯³πŸ˜‚

We phoned Randy, Dawn was at work. We wanted to check on the grandchildren and see how they were doing. Randy said both were doing OK, just mild symptoms. That’s good to know. It can hit young children very hard! Randy was having a bit of an electrical problem, a breaker within a breaker tripped … definitely needs an electrician.

We arrived at 3:10, set up and had a happy hour while the Scotties opened their Bark Box.

Mark made dinner of rotisserie chicken and salad. Easy peasy … and everyone’s losing poundage! After dinner we sat on the patio and watched the various rigs pull in for the night. One had apparently blown a tire and damaged the driver side rear panel. They got parked and began sorting out their problem. We all turned in early, ready for the mountain drive tomorrow.

Sue and Wayne are still experiencing weather in the 50’s plus wind and rain about Kenora. Has fall arrived early?

That’s it for today! Ta ta.

Good afternoon sunshine! It’s a hot one here but we got our work done and ready for fun!

Sue and Wayne have bad weather with tornado warnings. When I looked on the map, the line of storms runs all the way from Wichita Kansas up to Kenora Ontario! Crazy weather!

At 4:30, we met KimBob and LanArk at Sol de Mexico for dinner. It was our treat, and we had a fun time! The food there is always good! KimBob were into Modelo beer … LanArk had big margaritas! We had the back room to ourselves. We celebrated saving money on our home insurance, Lani and Mark’s sale of Calla 1 and whatever we could think of. πŸ˜‚

Back home, it’s time to relax and watch the history channel.

Good afternoon sunshine! When we were with Kim and Bob the other evening in the pool, Kim asked about taxes which led to talk about insurance. Anyway, our insurance bill had just come in at $1910 … there’s was $850 … a HUGE difference! Anyway, they had gotten their insurance through peoples trust. Mark reminded me this morning and I gave them a call! Well, we are saving $677 annually! We owe Bob and Kim a dinner out. That’s great savings. Ca-ching.

We’re going to have a visit with Nancy and Kachina tonight, and maybe a swim. We both need a break after this bad news week. Oh, and to add to it, Dawn’s grandkids have Covid! Hope they’ll recover without a problem.

Wednesday, August 18, 2021

Good afternoon sunshine! It’s going to be a hottie with no afternoon showers to cool us off.

Mark hooked up the rig and pulled the Brookstone out for tire checking etcetera. I’ve begun gathering our necessities for life in the mountains. We’re looking forward to cooler weather and a little trout fishing.

We hope to have a visit with our Covid19 vaccinated NC family … otherwise, it’ll just be we 4 hanging out together at the campground. All of us are eligible for booster shots in November because of our pre-existing conditions. It is what it is.

Aurelia, Tony and Chessy are visiting the K’s at their cottage.

Tony and Cheeky … finally Sue is spelling her name correctly. πŸΎπŸ’•πŸ˜‚ Looking good Tony!

Aurelia with Chessy on a boat ride. Nice they could visit this summer! πŸΎπŸ’•

We put it around today getting a few things done, had a bit of an afternoon nap followed by dinner of shrimp and broccoli, and then Mark had a cigar on the front porch after the rain had moved through. We are ready to just relax tonight.

Good morning sunshine! It’s the dog days of summer here in Central Florida … but we’re the fortunate folks in today’s world. So much devastation in other regions.

Our friends in western Canada πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ are watching wildfires approaching their properties. Michael W posted FB pictures of the fire proximity to his Kelowna home …

and Rick and Ruth have a sense of deja vu watching from their Lake County home …

Our thoughts are with our friends and cousins living through this wildfire inferno season. Wildlife has been decimated. Requests for folks to put out buckets of water for the fleeing animals. Utter devastation.

News from the island nation of Haiti πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή is grim with the death toll rising hourly from Saturday’s earthquake. (Eleven years ago a major quake hit Haiti.)

Today’s death tally is 1400 and rising. Utter devastation in the southwest area of the island. 😳

Let’s focus on good news …

Combatting climate change involves ALL OF US. Little things add up …

Well today really went to hell in a hand basket 🧺 … heard about a Winnipeg friend’s husband passing away suddenly … no sooner processed that idea and wrote a message to Glenn …

Then Sue told me our Winnipeg friend Les is being taken off life support today after a battle with Alzheimer’s. A message to Lynne … and a card ready to mail …

Nancy’s vet stopped Kachina’s chemo, all 4 treatments unsuccessful … she will be gone in a few weeks. 😒 That’ll be awful for Nancy as Kachina is her life after losing her husband 5 years ago.

Please … some positive news πŸ™πŸ»

Tonight, we met Kim and Bob and went to Pat & Ken‘s pool for a swim. We had a couple of hours before thunder started and we had to head home. It was great fun to hear about their trip to the keys.

Monday, August 16, 2021

Good morning. It’s a cloudy, humid start to our day. Mark, Wayno and Bob have gone hiking this morning to see what’s going on in the woods. It’s a man thing.

Robbie, BeeZee and I had our breakfast of fried eggs. I tidied the house ready for Carlos to begin at 10 o’clock. My goal is to start a painting today!

Watching the news unfold this morning, between the earthquake in Haiti and the devastation, and the poor Afghan people losing control to the Taliban, I just had to shut it off. I am following Dan Rather on his daily report he calls “steady.” We must remember through all this that it was our former President Trump who made a deal with the Taliban to keep an election promise. It was the wrong thing to do, and it was done in secrecy.

Tonight’s post …

πŸ‘πŸ»

We took the kids for a golf cart ride and then settled in to watch a little TV. It’s kind of hot and muggy tonight, not worth sitting on the front porch.

Sunday, August 15, 2021

Good afternoon y’all. It’s clouding up with showers forecast…Mark and Wayno took Da Barge fishing at 8 today and caught a few bass. Since we’re dining out with RanDawn tonight, the L’s are having blackened bass for their dinner.

Congratulations πŸ₯‚πŸΎ to Cousin Elliot & Chase on their engagement!

Elliot is front left … Chase is back row right.

I started sketching on a canvas … something to putter on. There’s not much to show at this time … just some chicken scratches. It was nice to sit at my easel again; it’s been a few weeks!

We met RanDawn at Stavros for supper. The food was great … lots of takeout but not many inside diners at 5 o’clock.  Dawn was working tomorrow so they headed home right afterwards.

Back home we watched Ancient Aliens 10 best mysterious sites … at 12,000 feet Puma Punku, Bolivia … massive granite structures dating to 15,000 BC. Fascinating.

Gobekli Tepi, Easter Island’s Moai πŸ—Ώ, Baalbeck  Lebanon, Derinkuyu Turkey, Delphi Site Greece, Nazca Peru, Mahabalipuram India, Maccu Piccu in Peru, and Sacsayhuaman Peru. Check them out! Fascinating.

Now we’re watching Toe Bro … it’s not for those with weak stomachs. πŸ˜‚

Now THAT’S a big doggie. πŸ₯°
