Good morning y’all ... it’s still quiet at our house as I have no voice today! WTH?

Mark went to WinnDixie for a few things we needed and asked their pharmacist what I could safely take with the antibiotics. Driver’s license and secret nato crypto ... Advil Cold & Sinus. (Obviously it has “the good stuff” in it.) πŸ€’ Here’s hoping the glass shards pain in my throat goes away! I need to be in my, ahem, ‘finest singing 🎀 voice’ for Randy’s birthday partay on Sunday night.

We so wanted to see Karen & Pete for fish fry tonight but I canceled ... no fun not talking! Although this isn’t contagious, per the doctor, I’m not taking any chances! Karen & Pete have a busy schedule with the big rally coming up next week. Neither of them needs to be sick at the busiest week of their work year!

Pat invited me over for a special bottle of Chardonnay which I had to decline. Egad, this really sucks! 😀

We took a ride on The Caddy tonight, all 4 of us. It was just beautiful outside so we sat on the front porch when we got home. Nice.

I’m on the mend. The Advil product is working well and my cough has eased. Tomorrow’s our Oktoberfest gathering for the ‘hood! 🍻

Morning! It’s going to be a fun day picking up a cone fireplace in Tampa. Mark has our Dodge uncovered and ready for a highway run.

The ride to Tampa was good; nice road all the way. The house where we picked up the fireplace is a cute mid-century modern; right up Marky-Mark’s alley.

This one’s electric whereas mine was wood burning! (Wow, my FP is still made ... $3,240 plus Selkirk chimney at $100 a section.) Cool. Everything old is new again. 😁

Hahaha ... Mark set it up all ready for Xmas. πŸŽ„ Mark and Lani were so happy to have it in the house waiting for them. They plan to be here for Christmas.

After taking DayQuil today I feel better tonight ... not over it but I can swallow without feeling like glass in my throat. πŸ€’ Hopefully tomorrow will be back to fun and games.

Randy had a good review at his orthopedic doctor appointment today. His range of motion is good; just 1 more follow-up in 6 weeks and he’s good to go. πŸ‘πŸ»

That’s it.

Good morning. It is a bright sunshiny day here in Central Florida, one that dad would say “it’s another day in paradise.” Indeed he enjoyed his 22 years in the Sunshine State. We miss you every day dad.

1980’s in Fort Lauderdale

Mom and Dad at their Florida Room bar. Linda made the sailor light in our Winnipeg ceramic classes. (Randy has the lamp at his bar now!)

Enjoying Ocean Reef in the Florida Keys with the Harris’s. Always having fun! ❤️

I had a crazy night after taking my sinus fix medications. At 4 in the morning I was still wide awake and watching TV. SHEESH. I canceled going to lunch with the gals as I was  just dragging along today. No prednisone for me! It’s like speed! πŸ€ͺ

Mark enjoyed his morning in the woods and saw 2 deer. It was pretty hot by the time he arrived home. Sunday morning is forecast to be cool so you know where he’ll be!

Tomorrow we’re taking a drive to Tampa to pick up a metal fireplace for Marky-Mark’s mid-century decor. I was looking for a picture of my yellow fireplace ... this one is orange!

Tonight, relaxing with the dogs watching Telly.

Tuesday October 16, 2018

Good morning 🌞. We were both up too early, me with a sore throat. Last Wednesday I sprayed Lysol cleaner on our shower which gave me a coughing fit. That was the start of this. Usually Mark cleans the shower stall for this very reason but he was busy ... you  know how no good deed goes unpunished. Haha. Well, it hasn’t cleared up yet!

So here I am at LRMC to get some medical help. It’s still “just a sore throat” but ...

Mark’s decided to work on Marky-Mark’s dock today while I’m out, then later patch the roof where the critters were entering it. But, I should be home when he does that!

Well, I have to go out later today and pick up some medication. It seems that I have developed sinusitis ... and, given enough time it may clear up on its own. But as the doctor said, why wait and feel miserable during that period? This is “a bug” that’s going around and affects the sinuses in the back of your head. I didn’t even know there were some there! Anyway, my eardrums are bulging ...  so she knows there is pressure inside my head. I’m so glad something is in there. Ha ha ha.

It was too hot for the doggies (and me) today. Rain and cooler temps are in the forecast maybe Thursday. TIL then, hot. Tomorrow is my ‘hood luncheon with the girls ... and Mark’s having a morning in the woods. R ‘n R for us both.

The following is a laugh for our friend Rick M ... especially when having a swig of wine 🍷 ...

🀣 MARK thought this hilarious!

Good day, well, here in Central Florida. Florida’s panhandle will be years recovering from Hurricane Michael! Sue sent me a link with further info which I’ll share here ... along with my comments. 🧐

Two to three degrees higher may be wrong as buoys in the Gulf registered 5 degrees higher than NORMAL for the same time period

As Hurricane Wilma came over our Pompano Beach home in 2005 it was still predicted as a Cat 2 ... but evidence in our canal and at Pompano’s airport clocked the sustained wind at 130. For years, Wilma’s intensity was never spoken of ... TIL now! Hrrmp. 😑

* So what we can take from this article is that we Floridians need to be hypervigilant when a tropical storm is forecast if we have had unusually hot weather. In the case of 2005 Hurricane Wilma, it crisscrossed over Florida’s Everglades with water over 90°. Be prepared.

Not only are Mark and I going to replace our shingle roof, but we are going to have said roof rebuilt to a higher category. The times are changing with the climate.

Here’s something else that has changed ...

Yup, it’s true. 😜

This afternoon we took the Scotties to the vet for their annual blood work and check-ups and a three-year rabies shot. Only one kitten was left at the vets, two were already adopted, a third one, not yet spayed, already spoken for. The cute male kitten with the long tail has been standoffish at the vet’s but now has someone interested in him. It’s odd, because that kitten was the friendliest with Mark and I. Anyway, Dr. Wilson was so terrific to have helped them!

Waiting for Dr. Wilson ... Robbie was 26 pounds today and Mrs. B was 22! Both are feeling so good with eating our “people food!” Dr. Wilson had a few critiques for us, but overall was thrilled with the condition of the dogs eating our home cooked diet. One of the critiques was that with the commercial grain free dog food craze one of the manufactures that uses peas and sweet potato as their main vegetable saw an uptick in dogs with heart conditions. So, we will be limiting sweet potato to once or twice a week rather than daily. Otherwise, ✅.

The last kitty wasn’t happy once he recognized me. Do you think he knows just how lucky he is there? I think he associated me with living on the street. 🀨

Sue and Wayne are off to Sage for dinner. Shorty had a vet visit for his eye checkup today. Results in a few days.

Tonight, a walk with the doggies then TV time.

Good morning πŸ˜ƒ What a lovely start! Mark puttered in the backyard trimming the Mexican Petunias while I handled the inside chores. We had 2 eBay sales! That’s always a good motivator!

RanDawn had a football day planned at the Hideaway so we decided on a boat ride with the Scotties after Mark finished pruning and pulling weeds.

It was a lovely afternoon, nice and calm. We took a ride to Palm Gardens and fueled up Mrs R B.

Enjoying the ride! πŸΎπŸ’•

After the football games were done, RanDawn called and suggested Stavros for dinner tonight. The cable over for a glass of wine and visit and then we went out for dinner. Everything was extra delicious tonight.

Now we’re going to relax and watch Dancing with the Stars.

Good morning! ☀️What a gorgeous start to this mid-October day. Mark left for the Ocala forest early for some R ‘n R. He spotted a nice buck about 40 yards away, safely out of range.

Meanwhile at home, I handled the usual chores and made a week’s worth of garlic potatoes for the doggies. Monday they’re off to Dr. Wilson’s for checkups and rabies vaccines. Maybe the kittens will be there!

For happy hour today we went over to Lew and Lynn’s with a bottle of champagne. They’ve been busy getting the house back to order after being away nearly 6 months. Anyway, we had lots of conversation and some laughs.

Back home now, Mark is making us an avocado salad and burgers for dinner!

Randy & Dawn had a day of shopping for household goods, including new bedding for their room. It sounded like they had a good day and enjoyed lunch out.

Sue and Wayne have gone dancing at Wynmore with Carol & Jack. Are we the only ones at home on a Saturday night? 😱
