December 26, 2017

Good afternoon. I was slow getting moving this morning! Mark was up and emptied the dishwasher while Sue and Wayne headed out to breakfast. We had made plans the night before to fend for ourselves for breakfast have turkey for lunch and then go boating.

After (early) turkey dinner (repeat) we played several games of pool 🎱 ... Sue had a unique set of skills. πŸ€ͺ

Spear-chucker shot! Haha.

We had a fun day! After dog walking we watched a Beatles show about their lives. πŸ‘πŸ»

Opening a gift from “the beyond” ... friend Ellis. πŸ‘»

Someone was a VERY good girl this year. 😜 πŸ¦ŒπŸŽ…πŸΌ

I made a very special cake for dessert. Sue wanted to peek ...

OMG the top layer split apart ... hahaha; Rudolph needed patching up.

Wayne and Sue to the rescue ... πŸ‘©‍🍳

We don’t know WHY this picture is fuzzy, but we kinda were fuzzy too. The beautiful plaque “family is forever” was made by Pam. We love it! ❤️

What a fun day ...

CHRISTMAS EVE 2017

Good afternoon. It’s a lovely sunny afternoon, about 78°. Sue and Wayne arrived in our driveway about noon and came in for a visit. Tonight, we are all going to Angelo’s Italian for dinner.

Bonnie and Roger sent us that sweet Scottie framed tile for Christmas. Mark tore into the package πŸ“¦ ... πŸΎπŸ’•. It’s beautiful 😍

Aurelia and Tony sent Christmas wishes and a pic of dear Chessie. It’s a cold day in Manitoba.

We enjoyed dinner at Angelo’s Italian tonight with Randy, Dawn, Sue and Wayne. Delicious! We all enjoyed our dinners. Afterwards, Mark and I went to Sue and Wayne‘s rig for wine and a visit! Ho Ho Ho ... it’s the big night! ✨πŸŽ…πŸΌπŸŽ„

Saturday, December 23, 2017

Good morning. It’s a bright beautiful sunshiny day, a little cooler but with a high in the 70s. That’ll do. Mark was up at 4:30 to cook a batch of meatballs before he left for hunting. We’re taking “Grape Jelly” turkey meatballs to Randy and Dawn‘s for their one-day-early, Christmas Eve, celebration. Ha ha, did you figure that out? πŸ€ͺ

Sue and Wayne left Liberty in Stuart at 8:30, the crack of dawn, still in their pajamas and dogs not fed. Ha ha, that’s how they roll when we’re not RVing with them.

🎼 oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays ‘cause no matter how far away you roam
when you pine for the sunshine of a friendly gaze
for the holidays you can’t beat home sweet home.

🎼 I met a man who lives in Tennessee, he was heading for
Pennsylvania and some homemade pumpkin pie,
from Pennsylvania, folks are traveling
down to Dixie’s sunny shore
from Atlantic to Pacific
Gee, the traffic is terrific 🎢

🎼 take a bus, take a train
go and hop on airplane
put the wife and kids in the family car
for the pleasure that you bring
when you make that doorbell ring
no trip could be too far 🎢

It’s now 10:45 and we are home from Randy and Dawn’s party. There were 18 for dinner! It was super fun ... and all the doggies got along reasonably well. The kids had a mountain of presents each, and were super excited. Randy had a dinner of green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken thighs, mushrooms and desserts! Wow! We know they will be sleeping in tomorrow. Ha ha.

Super-duper fun! Even the “cook” joined in the revelry. πŸŽ…πŸΌ

It’s a lovely COOL morning! Yay ... this’ll get me in the mood for cooking. (Yes, Rick, I’m in the kitchen!)

🎼Well you know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen, Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen but do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?

🎼 Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose,
and if you ever saw it you would even say it glows🎢

🎼All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names,
they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games🎢

🎼Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say Rudolph with your nose so bright won’t you guide my sleigh tonight? 🎢

🎼Then all the reindeer loved him as shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer you’ll go down in his-story!🎢 🦌

So, today I made the Christmas dessert and froze it, then mashed potatoes and put them in the fridge. It all helps to have a few things prepared for Christmas Day!

Tonight, we had happy hour on the front porch and then walked the dogs. The weather has been perfect. Randy and Dawn are getting ready for their family party tomorrow and Sue and Wayne got on the road tonight. Christmas is a-coming. πŸŽ„πŸŽ…πŸΌ

Thursday, December 21, 2017

Good afternoon. We began our day with a trip to the vet as Robbie’s itchies suddenly flared up. Last week he had a dental and the doctor noted he has an inflamed area along his upper right lipline. She thinks, at this point, that it is a topical condition caused by allergies. He was doing great til I “tested” him with a bit of rice. We’re pretty certain GRAINS are his enemy. So, we had an injection of Cytopoint, which he’s had twice before. By tomorrow evening he will be feeling like a new doggie. πŸΎπŸ’• ($57)

On our walk last night I took a pic of our neighbor’s beautiful decorations! The “little blue house” was a wallflower in years past, but not this year!

The Scotties had an afternoon golf cart cruise followed by banana yogurt icees on the front porch at happy hour. Robbie is feeling better already!

I bedecked the dining room for our feast on Christmas Day while Mark cooked a pork loin (and drank wine.) πŸ€ͺ

🎼It’s the most wonderful time of the year
with the kids jingle belling
and everyone telling you
“Be of good cheer,”
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.🎢

🎼There’ll be parties for hosting,
Marshmallows for toasting and
Caroling out in the snow.
There’ll be scary ghost stories and
Tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago.🎢

🎼It’s the most wonderful time of the year
There’ll be much mistletoeing
And Heart’s will be glowingπŸ’•
When loved ones are near,
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!πŸŽΆπŸŽ„

Ho Ho Ho ... πŸŽ„

🎼 it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas everywhere you go
Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again with candy clay canes and silver lanes aglow ✨

🎼 it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
toys in every store, but the prettiest sight you’ll see
is the holly that will be on your own front door πŸšͺ

🎼 a pair of hop-along boots and pistols that shoot
are the wishes of Barney and Ben
Dolls that will talk, and will go for a walk
is the hope of Janice and Jen
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again! πŸ•Ÿ

🎼 its beginning to look a lot like Christmas
everywhere you go
There’s a tree in the Grand Hotel, and one in the park as well
The sturdy kind that doesn’t mind the snowπŸŽ„

🎼its beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Soon the bells will start
And the thing that will make them ring, is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart ❤️

I was the driver today for our monthly luncheon and picked up Pat and Anita. What a fun time we had. The Lakeside Inn was beautifully decorated and our service was perfect.

The Lakeside Inn ... site of our monthly Harbor Shores luncheon. Merry Christmas! πŸŽ„

Mark did a good deed while I was at lunch and delivered a spare table and four chairs for Randy and Dawn’s get together on Saturday. Randy was busy pressure cleaning and making the place glisten. πŸŽ‰

Tonight, we are going to Rose and Jim’s for cocktails. That’s it for today. And, you are welcome for the earworm, 🎼 it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas ... πŸ˜‚ πŸ›
