Sunday, January 15, 2017

Good morning ☀️, happy Sunday! Although it was a lazy start to our day, Randy, Dawn, Lew and Lynn are coming over at 4 o'clock for happy hour and then we were are all going to the Oakwood Smokehouse for ribs. They have a special on now of a full rack for $10.99 with two sides. Oh yeah baby!

Anyway, I finished my living room Christmas tree redecoration and am ready to start on the new white Christmas tree tomorrow! Meanwhile, Mark worked on his seawall project for a couple of hours, but it is a little humid out there today.

Ha ha. I better retract that statement about humidity. I see it is only 51%. (Did Mark have a hot flash?)

Dinner with Mark, Julie, Lynn, Dawn, Randy & Lew at Applebee's! (When we arrived at Oakwood's, we found out they have new hours and closed at 3 o'clock on Sunday! ??? WTF ??? So, we went across the street to Applebee's and had a pretty good dinner.

Back at our house, we all had cheesecake, Scottie snuggles and watched the Grren Bay Packers win.
Dawn had an admirer with Robbie's kisses. (Could it be that she brought the doggies shrimp tails for a treat?)

Well, it was a good day. It's TV time now ... Blacklist and Homeland!

Saturday, January 14, 2017

Good morning from sunny Central Florida where it's 70° this morning. While the rest of our friends tuck Christmas away, I'm busy decorating trees for next season! 🎄 Fah La La La Lah 🎶 Ho ho ho 🎅🏼

When I let the Scotties out back this morning, I spooked the squirrel who was sitting in the hanging bench bird feeder. He jumped into the gravel and scooted across through the iron fence to safety. Fortunately, the dogs were still stretching and not ready to charge. Ha ha

Mark went shopping for his seawall project and got a start on it right away.

Of course he ran into tree roots! Nothing is as easy as we think.

I worked on my ribbon project and am pleased with the look. Something different for the living room tree!

Next, my favorite ornaments will be added.

Randy & Dawn are home from their Cedar Key adventure. Apparently the RV park is pretty old (quaint) and they found a great place to eat. It was either Denny's, Eddy's or Annie's. Haha.

It's football:30 now so Ta Ta til tomorrow.

Friday, January 13, 2017

Good (early) morning! Egad. I was so tired last night that I couldn't sleep. Have you ever had that happen? Lucky for me, my Scotties got up early too! The full moon was so bright; perhaps that woke me?

It's Friday the 13th ... 75F but cloudy. Robbie, BeeZee and I accompanied Mark on his Villages trek. We took the back way through the Emeralda Marsh and saw horses, cattle and hogs. There were many small farms in the hilly area. It's amazing how many Trump signs are still in front of beat-down, ancient mobile homes. (We wondered how they are feeling about Trump now?)

Emeralda Marsh is pretty big!

It's the green area on the northeast side of Lake Griffin ... 7,064 acres.

On the home front it was baking day ... my low carb cookies. The new Sunbeam mixer performed very well and was much less cleanup than using the big food processor. 🍪

Tonight, Mark helped me cut the poly mesh that arrived in the mail for my tree project.

As you can see, he was not thrilled. 😄 But, in the end, Mark helped me secure the ends to the tree top, ready for my weaving tomorrow.

Six 14' long ribbons will be tucked in to form a diamond shape over the tree. More work tomorrow.

Now, it's snuggle time with the doggies while we watch House of Cards!

Thursday, January 12, 2017

Good morning! (Actually, I needed 2 Advil to feel the "good".) Mark was fine as were Randy and Dawn; well that's what they said. 😜

Today is Sue and Wayne's 43rd wedding anniversary. We all remember the day they got married as -30°F. Sue's flowers had to be wrapped in plastic until she was inside the church! (When it's that cold in Winnipeg, you can't shut your car off for a very long unless the block heater is plugged in. Up and down the street, cars were running.) Haha ... we are all so happy to be living in the Sunshine State. Happy anniversary you two and cheers to many more! ❤🍾. They are going to dinner tonight with friends to a small Italian "joint." The other couple doesn't know it's Sue and Wayne's anniversary, so I suggested they just order a nice bottle of champagne at the dinner. Sue's reply was "I'm pretty sure champagne isn't available at this hole in the wall." 😂. My reply was "that's the way our anniversaries used to be celebrated!" (None of us had much moola to spend on dinners out in the early days.) How nostalgic. Anyway, we had a good laugh.

Mark went to his appointment and then to the forest to pick up a fourth tree stand. What the heck, have he and Lew been making a treehouse in the woods?

Yesterday, Mark began preparation for our seawall refacing. The Mexican petunias had gotten out of hand behind the shed.

Crazy plants!

The beginning of the tidying up! Yikes. I wonder what's been living in that mess?

Tonight, is Yaya's at Carol C's house in Scottish Highlands. That means, we drivers must behave. (That's a good thing, as last night left me feeling a wee bit green this morning.) Carol enjoys hosting the first YaYa's in the new year. Tonight is the full moon, so she has designated it as "Howl at the moon!" 🌝 Oh boy. (Old people get 🙃) It's always a fun time.

A few of our YaYa's with handmade chocolate bark ... from left to right, back row Anita, Carol, Kate, Rose, Pat.  Front row Lynn, Carin and Meredith. (Haha Pat looks like she's up to mischief.) Actually there were 18 of us there tonight.

We played Ellen DeGeneres' game ... Heads Up. It was hilarious fun; sort of charades on your phone.

Mark spent the evening with Jim (Rose's) and Lew (Lynn's) watching golf. He took the guys some venison chili.

Back home, the doggies were happy to see us! Now it's TV and relaxing time. Ta Ta.

Wednesday, January 11, 2017

Good morning world, it's a brand new day! Now yesterday was plenty of fun for me playing cards with my gal pals in the neighborhood.

Did I mention last week that Randy bought a new set of custom golf clubs? Well, he went golfing yesterday with friends Dan and Dennis and Dan's son. Apparently, this is going to be a weekly adventure. Good for him! From my standpoint, he gets to ride around in a golf cart, which I like. Ha ha

Mark has gone to his appointment in The Villages, then grocery shopping then plans to putter outside this afternoon. That's great. The doggies will enjoy being on the back patio with him. (It's 70°F with a high today of 74°F)

Me? I have eBay listings photography to add new items plus general household fun. Ha ha. I am still waiting for my new grapevines to hang in the dining room ceiling perimeter. Apparently, they are on a slow boat from China. (Really!) Well, what do you expect from free shipping?

This evening, we are going to downtown Eustis with Pat, Ken and Nancy for dinner at Tillie's. It's right next to Peddler's Wagon so shopping could happen. 😄(Randy phoned and they'll be meeting us at Tillie's! Extra fun is assured!)

Mark saw that granddaughter Hailey has a Facebook page! She looks so cute ... Halloween costume perhaps?

Well, dinner was good ... all fresh and chef prepared! Afterward, everyone came over for drinkies and shenanigans. 🍀 Everyone, except Randy and Dawn, had doggies at home waiting for them. Tomorrow, RanDawn are heading to Cedar Key on the bike for the weekend.

Partay time! The finalists from the evening. Haha.

So, it was a fun evening for dinner and more fun followed at our bar. Tata till tomorrow.

Tuesday, January 10, 2017

Good morning. It's a beautiful start to our day although we still have a fire burning merrily in the fireplace! (Hey, I started the fire and maintained it while Mark was at his appointment! What a Boy-Scouty, eh?)

This afternoon, I walked to game day with Lynn, her first ever. Well, we started out playing dominoes but then switched to "Crimes against Humanity" which Sharon brought to the party. It was freaking hilarious. When she purchased it at Target, the young clerk said it was a little racy, but fun. We had so many laughs but  of course wine was involved. By the time we staggered home at 4:45, our faces were hurting from laughing.

While I was having fun with the girls, Mark puttered around, cooked dinner and bathed the dogs. 😍

Our sonny-boy Matt is employed with Blake's Towing of Boynton Beach, Florida. As you see, he towed an old 1914 Ford. That's pretty 😎 cool Matt. Good luck with your new career.

Shorty Hot Pants had his turn at the doggie dentist today with one tooth pulled. We hope he will be back to his feisty self tomorrow.

To our two "Jim" friends recovering from surgeries, hip and knee, we hope you're bouncing back.

Rick and Ruth have been dealing with plenty of snow in the Kelowna area this winter. Mark is sure Rick wishes he had Randy's overalls to go with his tractor. YeeHaw! 🚜

Monday, July 9, 2017

Good morning! It's Monday ... what are your plans for the week?

The gift card is for Romano's Macaroni Grill. We haven't been to one in many years, since we lived in Boca Raton!

Marks appointment today at TheVillages was cancelled as their computer system was down. (???) I hope all is up and running tomorrow! Meanwhile, Mark took Lew to the forest to remove his tree stand. We heard that today is Lynn's last day at work. We shall have a bottle of wine to celebrate the retirement with her tonight! 🍾

While Mark was in the forest, I made Christmas tree ornaments for next year. Ha ha. I bet you are all scratching your heads right now. A new color scheme is coming for next year's festivities. 🎄

It promises to be a very busy week here in our neighborhood. Tomorrow, is game day at Carol Ann's. Then, we are going out with Pat, Ken and Nancy on Wednesday night. Thursday night is Yaya's at Carol C's in Scottish Highlands! (Mark is cooking turkey chili for Randy, Lew and himself that night.)

Today was our friend Lynn's last day of work. We chilled a bottle and toasted to her retirement. She's going to join us for game day tomorrow. We heard about their Caribbean cruise which sounded like a fun time.

Well, the fire's nearly out and we're ready for bed. It was a busy day here.
