Bowled Over ... June18, 2016

Good day! We were both up fairly early ... the sun's shining, it's breezy with a HIGH of 81 today. Sweet!

Mark phoned Randy to see whether he wanted to meet us for Bowling at 1 o'clock. Yay ... It's a date. We thought maybe Scott would be in town but he had delayed his visit until next week. Dawn's at work ... but unable to bowl because of tennis elbow. :-(

Diane posted a great picture yesterday ... apparently "gluten free" agrees with her.
Looking good Diane!  (Good genes!)

Randy and Mark were hot stuff bowling today! R bowled 136 & 167!!! M bowled 172 & 190!!! Wowsa! Me, not so hot ... 118 & whaaa waaaaa 85. LOL
Of course we had a BLAST. Plenty of antics ... and Randy liked the music so he was gettin' jiggy. Heehee.

Big news from Randy today! The stars aligned and he bought a new motorcycle! His Fat Boy Harley was 14 years old ... it was time for a new, more comfortable one to enjoy with Dawn.
It's at the shop getting a backrest installed. Sweet ride ... and great color! (Mark thinks that Randy is having rhinestones put on the saddlebags to match Dawn's new jeans!) LOL

Sue and Wayne are in Winnipeg for Les and Lynne's 50th anniversary party, as I mentioned yesterday. It's a hot day for their party, but no rain forecast!

Sue had time to visit Crystal, Avery and Darlene today. (Avery was making shy.)
It's 6 months since my nephew Gregg passed away.  It's nice to see his family doing okay. (Mark and I planned on being there, but it didn't work out this summer.) Tomorrow, I'll post pics from Sue of L & L's party! Their son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jen are hosting! They have a beautiful old house on Henderson Highway on the river! Cheers!

It was such a nice day here ... we sat on our porch for happy hour where it was 73F.  Extra nice at this time of year!
We all enjoyed sitting out and watching the birds and the squirrels! Right kids? Notice our flamingo doormat that Bonnie and Roger brought us. :-)))

Speaking of Bonnie and Roger, they sent this picture to us last night!
It's looks like we missed Mexican Train Dominoes night ... and deliciously smooth scotch. Aroooo. Today, they've gone to celebrate Roger's son's 17th birthday! Happy birthday Dylan.

It's time to relax and watch some TV with the doggies! Ta Ta.

Fried-day ... June 17, 2016

Well, last night was so much fun I just couldn't put it all into one day's posting. So here we go ...

Randy and Dawn were expecting Scott to arrive from South Florida while the four of us were out for date night. So, they left a key under the doormat. No, not very original but that was it.  To be continued ...

We met at 1884, a bar on Magnolia Street in Eustis. It's a very neat old place with an interesting clientele. I spotted a bottle of booze that I thought Bonnie and Roger had mentioned. I took a picture and sent it to Bonnie. Right then a fellow patron (sitting next to Mark) said what I was thinking of was Tito's vodka. Of course, he was right. Anyway, he knew the entire background story on Tito's vodka and knew it was named for his dog! (He ordered one right then with a fresh squeezed grapefruit.)
Here we are, a couple of cocktails into our date night evening.

We had already planned to eat at Tilly's,  just a few doors down the street from 1884. To start with, we ordered appetizers of buffalo chips with cheese and smoked fish dip. An hour later, we ordered dinner. Everything was good!
Tilly's ... Appetizers gone!

Walking over to Uncorked!
That's the big heron sculpture/fountain by Lake Eustis in the background.

At the wine bar ... a nightcap was needed!
Perhaps one couple was ready to call it a night and go home to BED! LOL. We had so much fun.

Well, when Randy and Dawn arrived home, THEY had a big surprise. No, Scott was not there. LOL. They left a key under the doormat for Scott, but found they ALSO left the overhead garage door up/open plus the entryway door to the house unlocked! I guess the only door locked was the one they left the key for for Scott. LOL. As Randy likes to say, "old people get goofy!!!" Yep, they sure do. LOL.

Well, good morning. I was up early but Mark slept until nine. Dawn sent a text wondering why the blog wasn't posted last night. I told her it was, and it's entitled Squirrley ... I was saving last night's fun for today's blog. (Actually, I was so tired last night I went to bed shortly after getting home.) For some reason, Dawn wasn't able to bring the blog up.

This afternoon, Mark and I ran a few errands and picked up the necessaries like Mother Hubbard peanut butter dog cookies. At Walmart, in the phone/computer department two middle-eastern-looking young men were milling around. I thought how difficult it will be in the coming months with suspicions cast their way because of atrocities committed by a homegrown nut job at Pulse in Orlando last weekend. Sad.

Sue and Wayne arrived safely in Winnipeg for Les and Lynne's party tomorrow. They've had a lot of rainy weather, but we hope they'll have good weather for their outdoor celebration.

So that's it for us today ... we're going to relax this evening and watch telly. Ta Ta.

Squirrelly ... June 16, 3016

It's a gorgeous start to our day! Well, Mark's still sleeping but the Scotties are on the front porch with me!
Two frisky squirrels have been vying for domination of our bird feeder. They've been fighting in our trees, leaping branch to branch and squabbling. This is been endlessly entertaining for the Scotties!!! (And me!) It's amazing how smart these rodents are. They think "outside the box." The dominant squirrel chased the other through our next-door neighbor's yard. Undeterred, the contender came back,  over our roof and used branches on 3 trees to launch a surprise aerial attack! LOL. Leaves and squirrel fur were flying! Robbie finally barked. Haha. (BeeZee didn't bark!) After the fight, the victor squirrel shimmied down the wire to our birdfeeder for breakfast. What a show. LOL

Our plans today include setting up our Sunroom TV for Xfinity 1 VOICE  command DVR service. (Randy will be so jealous!) Heehee. Actually, it was made fairly easy. We had to call tech-support last night to set up our living room TV system, but that was because the new service wasn't turned on ... that should have been in the instructions, I think. Anyway, maybe we're a little smarter than we think? A "home" phone number is included with our new package with free calls to Canada. Maybe we have an old-school phone tucked away somewhere? Don't get too excited Sue, I will only plug it in and use it when I'm calling Canada. ;-)

Mz BeeZee was our technical advisor ...
Haha. She doesn't miss a chance to help! Muah! That doggie is such a sweetie.

Yeah, the Sunroom TV system is up and running! Hooray! Somehow, both TV's pictures are better with the new DVR boxes. Schweet. And, with the new really high-speed Wi-Fi, our guests will be in heaven here!

Tonight, we are meeting Randy and Dawn at 1884 for drinks at the fabulous bar, then walking to Tilly's (Eustis) for dinner. After dinner ... specialty wine at the Wine Bar a block from Tilly's. It's date night, but on Thursday, not Wednesday.

I just love old Scottie dog pictures I see on Facebook!
This is a real cutie.

Sue and Wayne will have a weekend in Winnipeg with Les and Lynne. L & L are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. We'll hope for pictures ... sorry we couldn't be there as planned.

Date night was FUN. Tomorrow I will elaborate and post pictures ... tonight it's doggie snuggle time!

Mid-June 2016

Good morning. It's a beautiful start to a morning, weatherwise. Our TV is covered in horrific detailed news from our Orlando area. In addition to the nightclub shooting last weekend, now a two-year-old toddler has been attacked and killed by an alligator at a Disney World resort. :'-(  An update on the story noted that the parents were sitting on the lagoon's sandy shore while their two-year-old was playing in 1 foot of water at 9 o'clock at NIGHT! WTF? (It's dark here in Florida by 8:00!) There's a walk-in sandy pool for guests ... why, oh why was that sweet baby playing on the lake shore instead? Egad. If you're new to "the South," alligators are in ALL bodies of water! They're our wildlife!

Randy and Dawn dropped in for coffee about 11 after leaving her car at Scales Ford for a 2nd time with a transmission recall. That sucks!

Connie (Aussie cousin) is on vacay with friends in Bali. It's looks like a gorgeous waterfall ...

And FUN!

It was sure hot what we walk the dogs tonight. Hopefully, some rain tonight cool down. Our new Comcast equipment arrived, so that's the end of blogging for tonight. We'll open the box and start scratching our heads. Ha ha!

Connie's okay ... big tidal waves came onto Bali and two tourists were killed.
Yikes!

Game Girls ... June 14, 2015

Good morning from steamy Florida. It's going to be a bad hair day (for some!) with 91F here (and 90F in Pompano Beach.)

Never mind, it's game day for me ... and Mark's going shopping. Lew phoned about 10 that he was picking Lynn up after a gall bladder x-ray. She was unable to drive home so Mark and I went over and picked up Lew's vehicle from the parking lot. She was hoping to postpone it until after pool season, LOL, but it doesn't seem like that's going to happen!  Dawn had hers removed and said recovery was about two weeks.

So, since Lynn is off work anyway, she might as well come to game day with me! Fun! Too bad she didn't partake of the wine and snacks. We learned a new game called Sequence but soon switched to Rummikube. Another table played Mexican Dominoes. Rose is such sweet hostess and little Jazzy (senior Yorkie) was official greeter.

Lew and Mark had been swimming and drinking beer when I brought Lynn home. So, we girls joined them for a swim!
Since we ordered "new" COMCAST equipment, 3 service people have been here working on our connection. Tomorrow, our new equipment for inside the house should arrive. Maybe then we can record shows again. So far, all it's done is mess things up! Drat!

Tonight, Sue and Wayne have gone with Rose to Boston Pizza for their Tuesday pasta tonight. It's a favorite of ours when we're in Kenora (Canada) too!

Randy had some excitement today when he found a 3' rat snake in his garage!

He commonly leaves doors wide-open, and that's what can happen. LOL  After much "Steve Irwin-ing", Randy caught it with a pool cue bridge. Lesson learned? Maybe?

That's our news for tonight. Ta Ta.

DESSERTS ... June 13, 2016

Good morning y'all. Mark and I walked the Scotties at 9:30 before the shade was off the roadway. Its forecast to be 90 by 4 o'clock with rain later. Well okay then.

We decided to call Randy to meet us at the bowling alley at 11:30. Mark was laughing when Randy said he couldn't go because he had laundry to do! (Dawn's at work today ... Randy is home.) Mark said if Randy didn't come, he would phone R's Harley buddies ... Randy is meeting us at 11:30 to bowl. Heehee.

Bowling was FUN. In the 10th frame Mark told Randy he just needed 1 pin to tie me ... and, thanks to the power of suggestion, Randy threw a gutter ball that jumped out and got 1 pin! Hilarity ensued! Afterwards, we came home for lunch while Randy went shopping at Walmart. It was a much needed break in the day

Our wisteria needed bonemeal, so Mark took a bag out to spread around the base and on the base of our angels trumpet. Near the RV he found this ...
Yuck! Where's the big old corn snake this belonged to? I'm sure glad Mark found it; not me.

On Facebook today, Matt's mother posted a few pictures and the one below was among them.
It's redheaded Matt with two of his cousins. I told Cathy the story about Matt nagging me to color his hair red. Finally, I let him pick out what he wanted at Walmart and we proceeded the night before Halloween. Well, his hair was damaged from having swam in the pool all summer; I shouldn't have had him wash it beforehand. (Perhaps I should have read the instructions?) Anyway, when he got to school the next day with this bright shiny new head of hair, he was sent to the principals office along with another boy who had colored his hair green with Kool-Aid. The school office phoned me to ask if it was permanent like Matt told them it was. LOL. Great memories! Cathy said he wanted to look like his " otha motha."

Ta Ta.

Sunday ... June 12, 2016

It's a bright, beautiful start to our day! Finally the humidity is down to normal ... and it's a front door open morning, briefly. Yay.

Comcast stopped by our house at 8:45 to update our cable box (outside.) Mark happened to see the guy and told him to wait til he told me. Great service! Our new equipment has been shipped so we'll be ready for install. Hopefully Mark and I can figure out the installation.

Overnight, a horrific crime was committed by a 29-year-old man at an Orlando night club. Our thoughts are with the families of those who died and with those who are recovering physically and emotionally.

I read this uplifting message on Facebook about two weeks ago and saved it. For what purpose I didn't know.

Randy and Dawn are riding with biker friends today. It's been a perfect day for them. We're hearing thunder from the west and east but no rain here! As usual.

Tonight, Mark boiled potatoes, kubi and spinach for dinner. I sat outside enjoying heavy rain with the Scotties. It was a treat.

Just when I thought all the fun was finished for the day, our neighbor Steve and Shelby, backed a tractor, and I mean a tractor, onto their front driveway. WTF?
Steve thinks his tractor's sexy as he's hoeing along! LOL

That's it for tonight. Hope for a better news day tomorrow.
