Thursday 1/14/16

It's nice to enjoy the fireplace at 5 a.m. with the early news on TV. We're forecast nasty weather about 5 tonight. Hmmm, check our wine supply. Ha!

It's now 10 o'clock, and we're on our way to the Orlando house. Robbie is coming to work with us. He didn't mind this morning as we weren't up at the crack of dawn. Haha. Although we have to be at the Orlando house on Saturday for appliance delivery, Mark thought it best we put down the fertilizer today as were expecting overnight rain going into tomorrow morning. Also, I have the back porch to paint.

On our way home from the big O, we stopped in on RanDawn. Direct TV had installed a new DVR system and they were on the learning curve.

Mark helped with programming ... but clearly Dawn wanted her new gadget back. LOL. "Black List" and "Shades of Blue" are on tonight so they're recording them as a test. We had a glass of wine then headed home to tidy up the tools, etc. Saturday, the new appliances will be delivered! (The dark cherry cabinets looked very nice with the mottled granite.) tomorrow, we're going to hunker down as bad weather is expected.

How was your Thursday?

Bowling & Beer 1/13/16

Hey! What's up? Mark cooked us bacon & eggs ... center-cut bacon & jumbo eggs. Woo-hoo. Yes, Robbie had half an egg with his Wellness kibble ... washed down with ice-water. Oh yeah! Life is good.

So it's Powerball mania with the drawing tonight for $1.5 BILLION. Well, I know the first $100,000 goes to Rosemary Farm to help them expand. Otherwise, I have no plan to change myself ... maybe add land to several wildlife preserves ... and perhaps I'd buy more Glenmorangie Scotch instead of Johnny Walker Red. Gee, I must be content. Well, I would like to learn to fly ...

All right, so back to reality.  I saved $2.50 at the bowling alley tonight. We had accumulated on our bowling rewards card. Mark immediately went to the bar to get a bucket of beer to celebrate. Ha ha. Our savings were short-lived. Randy and Dawn are running a few minutes late. Lucky that we were right on time as we got the last available Lane. Well, Wednesday is $ night. Because Mark never contributed to the gutter ball fund for throwing a gutter ball, we decided last time if he didn't attain three strikes in each game, he would have to throw a dollar in the tin. Oh he fought us, but we prevailed. LOL

Mark ... crying in his beer at Tiki West in Tavares. LOL

Randy and Dawn picked up two more Powerball tickets with our $4 gutter ball fund. You see, it is Powerball mania.

Tiki West was celebrating their anniversary. A pound of peel and eat shrimp, served hot or cold, was seven dollars tonight. What a bargain. Dinner and drinks was $18 with the tip.

Now at home, we're relaxing and watching American Idol, in its final year. That's it for this evening. Ta ta.

K Anniversary 1/12/16

Today was Sue & Wayne's wedding day in 1974. It was very bitterly cold ... -40F. Sue's flowers were wrapped in plastic just moments before this picture was taken.

L-R Larry & Julie,  Wayne & Sue, Mom & Dad and Bridesmaid Sandra Lazarenko in pink. Happy 42nd Anniversary!

It's a sunny morning albeit, chilly. Robbie snuggled in bed with us before we all got up. Yes, Robbie is king of the castle!

In less than two weeks, we'll start our trip to Tulsa. Rob's world is about to get more complex. Ha ha. He will meet Belize our new family addition, as well as Ella, nine months, Percy, 14 years, Cabby (Belize's brother) and 2 as yet unnamed pups.

Mz B's beauty pics ...

Robbie ... Mr Sweety.

"The Game of Things" was, hands down, the best game we've played as a group. Sandra picked this one and we loved it. The answers were very telling, and funny. One question had me spewing my drink all over. It was classic! Everyone's sides were sore from laughing. The question was "What thing would you leave out of your autobiography?" Well, the answers were crazy and varied. Sandra read the (anonymous) answers - "church dues" ... "number of times a day I masturbate" (that was Pat's answer) which made me spew my soda everywhere! What a fun group of women we have in this neighborhood! When I got home at 4:30, my face was sore from laughing.

Mark had a fire going and turkey soup on the stove when I straggled in. Nice, very nice indeed. It's going to be a cosy evening.

RIP DAVID BOWIE 1/11/16

Starman and his Scottie ... together again. Thank you for the magic.

Good morning sunshine! We're into our winter weather now ... 46F. Brrr. The first Canadian air mass arrived overnight. Mark dug long pants from the bottom of the drawer ... I haven't seen them since last January! LOL

Mark washed the vehicles this afternoon with Robbie supervising from the front porch. Meanwhile, I made a purple necklace to sell on eBay. Our kitchen wafts chicken soup, part of tonight's dinner. Right now though, it's Happy Hour. Cheers!

Snuggle time with Robbie near the fireplace. Yes folks, we are complete wusses here. Haha.

These coals are perfect for baking potatoes ...
Yum. Well, they would be good!

Sue & Wayne went to one of our favorite South Florida restaurants this evening, Bella Roma. (They make the best Penne a la Vodka!)

Randy had a big bonfire of scrub wood this afternoon. It was a good day ... no wind and cool. Dawn was at work.

Tomorrow, it's game day at Sandra's for me. She took this beautiful picture of Lake Eustis from her back window.

We're staying in tonight, watching "Killing Season" with John Travolta & Robert DeNiro. It pretty bizarre. Well, the fire is lovely. Ta ta til tomorrow.

Hunting Ends 1/10/16

Mark was up at 4:30, excited to go hunting with his pal Lew. I can't get back to sleep once woken so here I am, watching Ancient Aliens on TV and planning our big summer RV adventure. Just off the top of my head I'd like to visit Rosemary Farm in the Catskill Mountains, cousins in Buffalo, Niagara Falls (again) and explore more of Lake Michigan's and Lake Superior's shores. Then, it's off to Chippy's Hollow at Lake of the Woods, Canada with Sue & Wayne!  But, I got carried away ... First there's our two week adventure in Tulsa, Oklahoma ... adopting Belize and dog sitting (7 in total) for Bonnie and Roger while they enjoy a honeymoon cruise. Oh yes, then we're booked into Giant Recreation World's RV event in early March. (That trip will be Belize's initiation RV trip!) Fun stuff!

Hopefully, Robbie and Belize will be best buds from the start; but ya never know. Just in case, Mark is packing the small dog crate in case they need to be separated in the backseat on our way home.

After lunch, we 3 took a long nap in front of the TV. It was awesome! Now we're ready for a thrilling bowling challenge! That is, to keep the ball out of the gutter and the dollar bills in my pocket. Haha. That's easier said than done! We invited Lew and Lynn to join us, but they're having naptime. (It's a dull, cloudy, cooler day ... and that's how we Floridians behave.)

We're now the owners of half of 2 Power Ball tickets with RanDawn after collecting $6 in the gutter ball fund. LOL. As you guessed, it was a rough night at the bowling alley. Haha. $1.3 billion is the next lottery. Yeah, we could be good stewards of that money!

Well, that was our day. I hope yours was great!

1/9/16

Good day, eh? It's a foggy start with a possibility of rain this afternoon. Never mind, Mark says there's some good football on this afternoon. It's a day to light a fire and relax.

Thanks to Rick Moir for this Scottish cartoon. Haha.

Mark painted the 2nd coat on the bead board for the Orlando house backsplash. I worked on eBay this afternoon and listed a few more items. Randy called about 3 o'clock to say he was going to the Hideaway tonight to watch the Steelers and Bengals game. He has $100 bet with Dan ... Go Bengals. Haha.
(Last night, Dan was wearing a cap with the Elvis logo ... TCB.) We had never heard of this, but apparently Elvis's band became known as the "taking care of business" band. The logo was developed by Priscilla Presley on a rough flight to a concert when a lightning bolt flashed through the sky. You see, we learned something last night. LOL

It appeared that our Elvis impersonator had a little lightning bolt going on himself yesterday.

Electric wiener! LOL

So that was our day. Not too exciting, just getting some work finished.

Paint paint paint 1/8/16

It's a workday, sort of ... Mark is on the clock painting the backsplash with a Hammered Silver enamel (stinky stuff) while I handle the Friday chores. We've lots of ventilation in place ...

The Hammered Silver should look great with stainless appliances.

The first coat is done. This paint is super thick and pulls on the brush. Nice stuff, but not like regular paint. It sets with darker spots that give the hammered metal look.

This afternoon, I sorted through Robbie's toybox and got rid of some of the junky torn ones.

This poor guy doesn't have a thing to play with. LOL. (Just wait till Miss B gets in there! He'll be interested in everything again!)

This evening, we went to the Hideaway to see Tommy Dee perform his Elvis show. It was good fun. We met Randy and Dawn and were invited to a party at MaryLou and Steve's next weekend. YEEHAW.

It was a fun night. Go Bengals!
