Good morning. It’s a good thing we finished up last night as the work crew was here at 8:15. They are quite impressive, moved all the sunroom furniture to one end and sealed it off with plastic sheets from the ceiling down. Maybe, just maybe, it won’t be dusty in here for years. LOL

Perfect day for this!

Empire Today rocks!

Mark has gone to UPS store, Beall’s and the lical liquor store. I am home, making sure we have everything we need for this tile removal. what a shame I had to come up, but there are some surface cracks in it and it’s time to update the house with new materials.

When Mark got home we walked around back to see the job progression.

The tile is coming up nicely! Misting the tile before he shovels it up keeps the dust to a minimum! I’m impressed with this company!

Looking good!

The next crew is here to ‘float the Sunroom floor’ 🥰 … it must be within 1/8” inch level to lay the planks. 🤷‍♀️

Apparently, that is a pour. Tomorrow, they will finish the other half of it and then once it’s dry, lay the planks.

Meanwhile, we had a couple of drinks on the front porch and enjoyed a surprise rain. It’s been dry for so long, it was just nice to see. Mark has a touch of poison ivy sure, took some Benadryl, and has now headed to bed. I hope he feels better in the morning.

Sue and Wayne had an evening at the yacht club. Their report their house is in a muddle as they pack. Never mind, we aren’t even moving and we are in a muddle. LOL

Randy and Dawn are staying at their friend Dan’s house. He had surgery today and they are there helping out. What great friends they are.

That’s it for today. I hope you had a wonderful day and are getting into the festive spirit.  🎄

Good morning! It’s going to be a busy day at our lowly house today. Mark’s nailing the wainscoting and trim (behind the curio cabinets) … laying the area rug … table and chairs back into the room! THEN we prep the Sunroom for tile removal!!!

Mark and I worked at this all day, then met Wayne and LaDonna at Stavros for dinner. We brought home a pizza for tomorrow! Our pals came over and helped us finish up emptying the top shelf of the sunroom, and then taping down heavy plastic to keep the dust out of the house and covering the sofa, desks and art curios!

Empire’s team arrived at 8:45 … assessed the job and began! There were a few minor changes but overall, good.

The laminate is gone!

The laying of the new super-duper flooring! Love it 😍

Since Empire no longer does baseboards, Mark ran to Home Depot, bought scads of it and the guys are putting in on for us!

Mark decided to move the A/C vent …

The vent on the left will be drywalled in, and the one on the right will be expanded! Good idea Marky!

Arriving with more baseboards! The old trailer comes in handy! (Again!)

The workers … Lu, Jorge, Jorge and Philippe were terrific. They sure worked hard! They left at 4 and by 6:30 we had the living room reorganized.

BeeZee and Robbie are happy to be out of our bedroom after being sequestered. They had a couple of walks and a golf cart ride!

Ta ta til tomorrow.

Good afternoon y’all … we’ve readied our home for new flooring … and what a muddle!

The guest room is crammed …

No artwork being done for a few days!

It looks like a “tor-nader” 🌪 went through our place!

The curios are emptied and pulled apart … and we have a wall to complete with wainscoting and paint.

The Sunroom is emptied!

Plants tossed outside …

OMG 😳

Good afternoon sunshine! It’s been a day of busy-ness … paperwork and laundry for me!

Tonight, we’re picking up KimBob for some people watching downtown.

The lights were beautiful this year!!!

Thursday, December 2, 2021

Good morning. Well, with all yesterday’s excitement over ordering new floors, neither of us slept well. Perhaps it was one too many drinks on the front porch? Whatever it was, Mark was up before 4 o’clock and gone by five to go hunting with Wayno and Bob. It’s their last chance to go as Wayno has some surgery tomorrow and will be out of commission for a few days.

While the boys are out hiking in the woods, Kim, LaDonna and I are going to breakfast … then a little Christmas shopping. 🎄

Breakfast at Haystax was interesting. It’s definitely a mom and pop place with plenty of knickknacks. Kim picked me up and we met LaDonna there. After breakfast, we went over to Peddlers Wagon where we all bought something. I managed to find a Christmas present for Sue … difficult to buy for this year as they are moving and downsizing. Perfect. Back home, Mark and the boys were just getting home. They always have some funny stories to share.

Mark finished the driveway project! 🥂🍾

Yay!!!

I started readying the house for the flooring installation by emptying the curio cabinets, dining room decor and Christmas closet. The guest room is officially out of commission for a week. 😂

After dinner Mark and I went outside to watch the rocket launch 🚀 …

Decent picture for the iphone 11 being held.

I called the M’s in BC today. The two of them are so cute. They were in their workshop making cribbage boards together. So sweet.

That’s our day.

Wednesday, December 1, 2021

Good morning. I have been remiss in writing the blog. A lot has actually happened in the last few days. Sue and Wayne closed on their RV lot in South Florida. Mark and I attended the inspection on their new home on Monday. Of course there were a few reasonably minor things to be taken care of, but overall, a very good inspection. The company was incredibly thorough!

Mark continues to work on the driveway, today putting on the first coat on the last section of driveway. Perhaps tomorrow he will finally be done. I sure hope so. While he was out working on that, the pups are enjoying the front porch, laying in the hammocks in the sunshine. No, it’s not hot it’s in the 60s and they are loving it.

1st coat on final section! Lots of neighbors stopping by to admire Mark’s work.

BeeZee loving her lifestyle. 💕🐾

I have been working on my painting a little, but today is going to be eBay listings for Shih Tzu rescue. At 1 o’clock, Empire Today is coming to give me an estimate on a new living room flooring. The laminate we had them install in 2006 was damaged over the years, especially after water intrusion during the hurricane three years ago. It wasn’t much water, but if you have laminate floors, you know it doesn’t take much to swell an edge! Mark and I picked a style we liked at Home Depot, but have no idea how much we would need nor the cost. Getting an estimate today will be helpful, and they were very good company to work with in the past.

Starting to block in the base colors …

Well …

we ordered flooring for our living room, dining room and massive Sunroom. Along with that big buy is new baseboards … 5.5”. Next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday is installation day! Yeah! We’re surprised too. 😂

Sue and I had a fun conversation today. She hired Packers to help out for a few hours today …

That’s exactly why texting doesn’t always work. LOL

MarkyMark came over at 4:30 to join us on the porch for a wee dram. They just had quartz countertops installed … a bit to finish, but looking good! Lani arrived home an hour later and joined us for a glass of Chardonnay. It was a fun night.

Now … Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting concert is on TV. Ta ta. 🎄
