Saturday, August 7, 2021

Good morning. It is a bright beautiful sunshiny day and bound to be a hot one. Speaking of hot, while we were watching the Olympics, (Japan) we were amazed at the beach volleyball teams, barefoot, with the sand one day at 111°F and another day at 123°F. How on earth did they stand it!!! I’m sure it will hit 90° here today.

I remember the mayor frying an egg on City Hall front steps in The Peg … it was 108F.

This evening we had dinner with LaDonna and Wayne, from Sonny’s BBQ. Mark and I ordered brisket, and it was delicious. We had never eaten there before … but we will again. We also christened the front porch, now screened in and very comfortable.

LaDonna loaned granddaughter H’s chair to BeeZee so she could see out. Beez sat quietly until Jim H. Walked by with his Boston Terriers.  πŸ˜‚ it was a beautiful evening of 83°. We sat outside until 9 o’clock.

Back home, we had had a hatching of blind mosquitoes. They were horrible, so thick in the street lights. I will have to phone the county on Monday to have them sprayed.

That’s it for this evening. Ta ta. Mask up whenever  possible!

Friday, August 6, 2021

Good afternoon y’all … it’s been a crazy busy week and today is no exception! πŸ˜…

Friday is always housekeeping day … but with extra jobs! The new robot vacuum requires a few things tidied up … like extra long curtains, dangly extension cords, dog toys and the like. The ruffled curtains between the dining and Sunroom couldn’t be shortened so Mark raised the rod. ✅ The Sunroom white sheers puddled on the tile … so those rods had to be repositioned. ✅

Now, I’ll just fold the towels before opening our new assistant housekeeper … Rosie. Hey, it’s got to be Rosie after growing up with the Jetson’s.

Last night, Sue and Wayne hosted their dinner party at the lake. Jim surprised the girls with a gift for each of them.

Sue doled out the gifts Jim brought …

I wonder what was in those beautiful bags?

Well … Mark was napping when I opened the boxes … the vacuum robot has a charging dock that empties itself into a dust bag! We got it set up, plugged in and I pushed the right button at the wrong time. πŸ™„ Now it’s cleaning and I’m not supposed to interrupt it. 😬 I’m hoping to carry on with the setup instructions and programming when it comes to the dock to charge. 🀞

Yeah, Carlos is programmed … he was always reliable and on time so we’ve named our Yeedi after our south Florida housekeeper of 18 years. (My mom always thought it strange that our housekeeper was a man … and the roof and driveway cleaner, Mary, a woman.) Haha. Well, it was a bit odd. πŸ€”

This weekend RanDawn will be celebrating Charlotte’s birthday. Hope we’ll see them next week … the COVID19 Delta variant has flared up terribly in our region. The local hospital is on code Black. There are no beds available … so don’t get sick! (Unfreaking believable when we could have had this virus beaten.)

It’s telly time here … we watched Olympic coverage of Karate kumite … and now, Alone. Ta ta til the morrow. 😘

Thursday, August 5, 2021

Good afternoon. I don’t think we saw the sun at all this morning. There’s been no rain, but overcast and just a high of 83°. We’ll take it, much better than the dog days of summer that August can be. The system that is crossing our peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico is coming to an end.

Nancy and Kachina cruising the ‘hood’ in our Shiloh’s stroller. Kachina has a tumor on her paw plus Lymphoma. Nancy is hopeful for Chemotherapy to work on the lymphoma … the paw can’t be dealt with during that treatment. The paw tumor was removed several months ago but has unfortunately grown again. The stroller helps them both get out for a walk. πŸΎπŸ’•

Mark has kept himself busy working on the old “work barge“ readying it for canal fishing with his buddy Wayno. The motor that Markymark bought at a garage sale works fine, with a little repair. Now, we apparently must invest in another battery as a barge battery back up. πŸ™„ I fear the price of these stripers is around $100 a pound πŸ˜‚

Meanwhile, I have been sorting through kitchen cabinets, and sent 10 bags of odds and ends to the Humane Society store with Mark! They appreciate all the donations and we are rid of many duplicates … where does it all come from? What I thought would be a one day job, it’s easily going to be 2 1/2.

We had two eBay sales, nothing expensive, but again, getting rid of things we are not currently using. 😬 It’s not an easy job, as I remember where everything came from. Ha ha. I remember what I served in the different dishes! I just donated 10 gold footed dessert bowls from Christmas dinner at our Boca house. πŸŽ…πŸΌ I’m guessing if I haven’t used them in 19 years … πŸ˜‚

So at 6 o’clock Mark and I went to Pat ‘n Ken’s pool and met up with KimBob. Wayno was fishing across the canal and popped over for a quick visit. LaDonna was home fixing dinner. The pool was only 83 … lots of rain yesterday cooled it down. We were relieved to hear KimBob had a J & J vaccine done May 2nd. πŸ‘πŸ»

Wednesday, August 4, 2021

Good afternoon! We’re in the midst of a tropical storm track rolling in from the Gulf. It’s been a day of gully washers.

Mark’s rewiring our kitchen … and I’m cleaning the cabinets and washing shelves. It’s a great day for this job!

After our evening walk, we sat on the front porch for an hour, the weather was so nice. I wanted to swim, but we had a very busy day.

The carpet’s out of the kitchen … and I like it. We’re going to be owners of a vacuuming and mopping robot that empties it’s bin daily. It sounds like Rosie from the Jetsons. πŸ˜‚ We’ll see …

Tuesday, August 3, 2021

It’s a rainy start to our day … some areas north of us had up to 4” of rain. How do we know that? The darn weather radio woke us up twice! It’s a wonderful alert system, but wish it was more county targeted. πŸ₯± zzz

One of the wake ups interrupted a lovely dream of me getting the big Boca house ready for Christmas dinner. Bob and Mary had arrived, Mom and Dad were there too. I got pool towels for everyone, set the dinner table and we all went swimming; me in a gold lame’ dress. Haha! That was weird, swimming in a dress. What a wonderful visit it was! πŸ₯°

Ha! Nice sale price of $845 on this … I’ll just manage to swim in my elcheapo 2 piece bathing suit. πŸ˜‚

Mark had an early morning appointment to get blood work done at our doctors office. They couldn’t find a vein today, so he came home with a bandage on his hand. What the heck, he’s never had a problem with bloodwork. Anyway, he was a little annoyed. So, we sat and had coffee together and watched a few minutes of TV to relax. After my laundry and other chores are done, I plan to do a little puttering on painting today.

Monday, August 2, 2021

Good morning y’all. It’s a busy one here with appointments today and tomorrow.

Mark dropped me at the center for my test and, due to the darn virus, couldn’t wait in the waiting room. So, off to Lowes he went to knock out the shopping list.

It’s a long weekend in Canada and the K’s have the family staying. They’re out on the Windsorcraft this afternoon. It’s a beautiful day there!

Back home about 2:30 Mark began puttering on his wiring project. Then, we decided to take the Scotties 🐾 for a golf cart ride before rain moved in. It was so nice … lots of Ibis flocks, a few neighbors outside doing odd jobs and us just cruising around. πŸ˜‚

Tonight is Olympic coverage and the news … then drinks on the porch. πŸ‘πŸ»

Here’s a flashback from our first big RV trip to Maine in 2008.

Shiloh, Maggie and Mark walking Jenkins Boardwalk in New Jersey. Great memories!

Sunday, August 1, 2021

Good morning sunshine … it’s forecast to be 95 in Orlando today! We may not get that hot here by the lakes, but … it’ll be hot.

Mark ordered a larger tackle box today … his “sorting out” the old equipment apparently has not reduced the goodies. 🎣 (Happy days ahead with good fishing!) What’s great is Mark has a good buddy who is an avid fisherman!  BTW KimBob are still catching in our lakes … thought I’d be too hot. 🀷‍♀️

Deenna and me at Sharon’s.

So nice to have friends with a pool, and we’re invited for a party at 5 o’clock. 😎 Right now it’s pouring rain with a thunderstorm, it’s supposed to clear up by 4 o’clock. Let’s hope that happens and we can have some fun with our friends.

We had a blast in the pool … for hours. KimBob’s grandson phoned … and Bob performed a can-opener jump. Lots of laughs.

It was a great night for the pool … the water was 88F. Back home, it’s time for the Olympics on Telly.
