Tuesday May 7, 2019

Good afternoon y’all. We had a busy enough morning emptying the hot tub for summer, installing an outlet for the new Hisense A/C and regular household chores.

Our Bluebirds are back in town so fresh food went into the bird feeder. Before I got back into the house a female Cardinal and a Dove were eating. Did I mention Rocky (our window tapping Mockingbird) is back? Mark replaced my thorny Bougainvillea with a Foxtail palm last fall and poor Rocky is confused. He sits on the wire nearest the window. Guess I’ll have to buy fresh mealworms for him! πŸ™„

Yesterday, WE made a big decision to join half our neighborhood in cutting the cable! Our new 125 mile antenna arrived and is ready to mount, somewhere. We’ll eventually hook it up and see if we can live without the $200 cable bill. Yes, we will still need internet service but that’s available separately. Also, if we wanted we can add a DVR to our free setup with no monthly charge. Stay tuned ... πŸ˜‰

Robbie liked the antenna box! He’s so funny πŸ˜†... stayed in there until Mark said it was time for a walk. Even then, Robbie was hooked up before he hoped out.

Do you like the kids puppy cuts?

They feel nice and cool 😎 ... ready for a hot Florida summer.

Tonight, RanDawn are coming for happy hour and a visit before we go for Mexican food. (We missed Cinco de Mayo but hey, we’ll support it tonight!)

Well, we had lots of fun at happy hour, with plenty of laughs and old stories. Then, we went to Mexico Del Sol in downtown Eustis. It wasn’t too busy when we arrived, but soon filled up. We had so much fun, so many laughs and great food. It was $1.25
Taco Tuesday. Of course we had wine, margaritas and beer! OlΓ©!

Back home, Mark and I sat on the front porch with the doggies and their frosty paws for an hour. It was a gorgeous evening.

Monday, May 6, 2019

Good morning. I was up early, just couldn’t sleep. Then, my phone started dinging and it was Sue with a Shih Tzu rescue emergency!

These three cuties need a new home, pronto. I asked our neighbor who has been refused by a couple of rescue groups because of their age. Well, the people said these wee gals were “too old” for them. πŸ™„

Meanwhile, life goes on at our house. Mark finished the truss anchors in our attic today. He looked totally wiped out afterward. (Thank you Mark ❤️ ... we’re going to feel much safer in our home during storms plus save money on insurance too!)

Our Gardenia is finally blooming again! It had aphids or some type of bug that we hadn’t noticed were eating the flower buds! Mark sprayed it but we noticed the darn bugs are back. More spray needed. There are lots of buds though so hopefully it will bloom.

For lunch today we went to our local Steak and Shake. We had forgotten how good it was and needed to go to Home Depot anyway, just across the street. 😜

The four of us had happy hour on the front porch but found it a little bit warm at 88°. Later this week is going to be a high of 90. Oh Em Gee, summer is here already. Mark is checking the chemicals at Marky Mark’s pool and then we are taking the dogs for a ride on the Caddy. 😎

Sue has dental surgery scheduled on Friday ... not fun. Maybe the tooth fairy will pay you a visit. 😜

RanDawn had the best day. They went to a movie 🍿 ... then watched entertainment at The Villages. πŸ‘πŸ»

That’s it. Monday’s done ✅.

Sunday, May 5, 2019

Where’s the day gone? We’re watching American Idol and voting for our favorites ... Laine Hardy and Wade Coda! Rock on fellas.

We puttered about today just taking it easy after 4 busy days and nights. Haha ... we needed it.

The thunderstorms began about 10 this morning and were pretty loud by noon! A bit of Spanish moss was blown about our front yard, but that was all. When we took the kids for a ride on The Caddy at 6:30 the air was clean and cool.

Saturday, May 4, 2019

Good morning. It’s a bright beautiful sunshiny 73° this morning with clouds forecast for later in the day. The Kentucky Derby party starts at 3 o’clock at Pat and Ken‘s house. We’re bringing Buffalo chicken dip and Tostitos scoops for an appetizer.

Pat and Ken‘s derby party was especially fun this year. There were 15 couples there, who we know quite well. We had bets every race with small pots. This year, we did not win anything. But hey, I thought I won three times and that caused some confusion! 😜

Host, Ken

Pat’s fun decor

Yay! Happy Derby Day! It was a very unusual finish to the horse race. The declared the winner, really wasn’t the winner after a 20 minute dissertation! That was a new one on everyone! In our little group, it ended up in a bit of a half between the original winner and the new winner. LOL. Hey, you can’t make this shit up! πŸ˜‚

Back home, we watched a little TV and headed to bed. What a fun day we had.

Friday, May 3, 2019

Good morning. Yes, this house is feeling like a very big house when it’s cleaning day. OMG. Usually Mark helps me, but he’s across the street cleaning the pool and puttering at Marky-Mark’s. By the time he came home, I was done. Haha, literally.

Randy popped in for a coffee after golfing with the neighborhood guys. He gave us a great laugh. First off, he picked up an Apple Fritterbat 7-Eleven. He tossed it into the golf cart, planning to eat it a little later. About midway through golf he grabbed the bag to take a bite and discovered a big cockroach had already been enjoying it!!! Hahaha. A few minutes later, he and his partner Ron pulled up at the clubhouse for a pee. Randy emptied his pockets leavingbhis raisins and almonds on the dash of the golf cart and ran in for the facilities. When he came back out, his bag of goodies was missing. He thought Ron was playing a trick on him but, it turned out a crow had seen him toss the bag there and watched him walk away. CAW CAW Heeheehee. The guys all had a good laugh.

Trade ya this ball for some almonds and raisins?

Tonight, we’re meeting Karen and Pete for dinner ...
It’s now 10 o’clock, and we had a good time at the Crazy Gator. It was fish fry night, and delicious food. They are off to Washington DC for a 10 day VIP campout trip! We came home and sat on the front porch and enjoyed the lightning show from the storm over Daytona Beach. The Scotties had their frosty paws while we had a nightcap. Life is good. ❤️

Thursday, May 2, 2019

Good morning! It’s a beautiful start to the day in Central Florida. There’s a 50/50 chance of rain around noontime.

Last night, we had a fun evening at Fish Camp on Lake Eustis. Karen & Pete couldn’t make it. (She thought Friday night not Wednesday. They extra busy with a big Washington DC VIP camp out trip leaving Saturday. (No, we’re not going on this one!)

So, last night was the four of us and we had loads of fun. We FaceTimed Rick to ask the winery name where we bought the $70 bottles of red wine that tasted like Scotch and finished like chocolate. (Rick knew the name!)

Fish Camp fun date night. ❤️

Today, Mark worked on one end of the house installing truss tie-down brackets. He was pretty hot when he came down an hour or two later. One gable down, two to go.

Tonight, I went to Yaya‘s at Anita‘s house while Mark went out with Ken and Jim. They had dinner at Tillie’s. Poor Anita had ordered pizza from a company that no longer deliver to our area. By the time she found out the mistake, it was 6 o’clock. By the time Pizza actually arrived from another company it was nearly 8 o’clock and several of the women had left, hungry.

Well, we had a decent wine bar. πŸ˜‚

Nancy ... performing for us 🀣

The YaYa’s ... well, 14 of 22.

Finn took a shine to me tonight. Haha.

Back home, Mark had a good time with the guys and had a good dinner at Tillie’s. I brought pizza bones home for the dogs so they were happy too. πŸΎπŸ’•

Wednesday, May 1, 2019

Good afternoon. We were having a lazy start to our day when Dawn sent us a message that they were having a pop in by boat. That got us up and moving. We were ready for company in 20 minutes. Ha ha ha. Randy and Dawn were on board with friends Mary and Dan, Kim and Dale. It was a fun visit. Apparently the lake was pretty rough so they were happy to come in and tie up to the dock and have a couple of drinks.

Dan’s SeaRay deck boat.

Just look at the color of our canal! It is covered in duck weed. The wind is out of the north today, so that will move it on out and back into the lake. Horrible, and it was just sprayed last week by the county. 🀒

Look closely and you will see our resident 8 1/2 foot alligator. Mark tells me he has been hanging out by the neighbors run down seawall. He’s no problem, he seems very much a loner and not interested in people!

When the gang was leaving, Mark had brought the Scotties down to the water for a quick visit and Robbie jumped onto Dan’s boat, ready for a ride!

I see a rascally Scotty peeking out the door! C’mon Robbie, you’re not invited. πŸΎπŸ’•πŸ˜‚.

Mark gave the kids summer haircuts today while I readied their bathwater. That done, we’re going out to the Fish Camp tonight for dinner. Karen & Pete plus Randy & Dawn are meeting us there. It’ll be awesome.

We had a blast tonight at the Fishcamp. And the breeze tonight made the air just magical. When we got home, Mark and I sat on the front porch with a nightcap while he enjoyed a cigar and the dogs enjoyed frosty paws.  It was truly one of those evenings you never wanted to end. Just the simplest niceties of life, well done.

Pictures tomorrow from our selfies!
