Monday, August 7, 2017

Good morning. Gavin and Kyle went upstairs for Wayne's blueberry pancakes ... Mark and I ate some chocolate cake. We were too lazy to cook breakfast this morning. Now we're off for laundry.

Well, that was kind of a crazy trip. We got to Keewatin Place about 10 (on a holiday Monday!) and washers were full! One family beat us there, and brought their children along for entertainment. Yikes. This area needs more laundromats! So, we went to Shoppers in downtown Kenora ... then to No Frills for a few obscure ingredients we need for Wednesday's dinner party. The laundromat was still busy when we came back an hour and a half later, so maybe tomorrow we will get clean clothes. Yucky.

Wayne is cooking hamburgers for all of us about 130. Today, Gavin and Kyle go home to Winnipeg with their parents. We are certainly going to miss them here. 😟

After lunch, Mark suggested a game of corn toss. Ron and Gavin were the eventual winners although it was a close game all the way!

Kyle, Penny, Ron and Cody ...

Gavin and Wayne ... complete focusation! 😜

The boys hauling their gear up to the driveway ... a long climb.

Saying bye bye to 2 1/2 Cody. πŸ’•

They were on the road by 4:30 so the 4 of us headed to the dock for happy hour.  A surprise rainstorm drove us into the boathouse for a few minutes while it passed; then we enjoyed the glider! Tonight, just chilling. Ta Ta til tomorrow.

Sunday, August 6, 2017

Good morning. Wayne, Gavin, Kyle, Ron and Mark have gone fishing on the Ranger. They are meeting up with Doug and crew for, hopefully, a great day fishing. This afternoon we have a fish fry at Joanne's nearby.

Mark and Gavin ...

Ron on the back of Rose's Tahoe.

Fish cleaning was done at Joanne's and Doug's ...

Yes, they caught enough fish!

Me? Chores done, it was time to read a chapter in my book. Robbie and BeeZee started barking, rather unusual for them, so I stepped outside looking to see perhaps a bear. No, it was a stray blonde Labrador retriever with a brown leather collar. Now we know where the "orangey poops" are coming from!

Gavin and Kyle took the kayak out on the bay ...

Kyle "cannonballs" ...

Gavin races from one dock to another ... plenty of shenanigans this afternoon. 🀣

Dinner tonight was great ... Fish, fries, onion rings, beans, coleslaw and chocolate cake. Wow, there were about 30 hungry folks there ... and several dogs ...

Gavin playing with Timber.

Saturday August 5th, 2017

Gavin and Kyle arrived with suitcases in hand at 10 this morning. Their parents and younger brother will be here this afternoon for a couple of nights.

My job today is to bake two of my yummy chocolate cakes for tomorrow's dessert. The boys are going fishing for a large fish fry for at least 20 people at Joanne and Doug's.

Mark wore Gavin's hat and sunglasses down to the dock. Ha! Yes, Gavin noticed!

Penny, Ron and Cody arrived about 5, too late for happy hour but in good time for dinner. We had a fun night; and little Cody is very cute! More tomorrow.

Friday, August 4, 2017

Good morning sunshine! Yup, it was one of those nights where my brain wouldn't quiet; so here I am at 5 o'clock with Mz BeeZee on my lap.

Mark hurt his back yesterday and Bee was there to help him feel better (by climbing onto his chest.) πŸΎπŸ’•

She's such a sweet Scottie! πŸ’•πŸΎ

Les and Lynne arrived at 11 o'clock for a visit and a sandwich. Gavin looked at Lynne getting out of the car and said "I know her ... she makes good gooey brownies!" Although Lynn didn't know Gavin and Kyle were at the cottage, she'd brought "the" brownies with her. Wow. Also, Les arrived with a fresh batch of his homemade for me. Cheers! Awesome!

Wayne with Shorty Hotpants and Lynne with Julius. Julius is feeling much better with arthritis medication! Both dogs were delighted to see Les and Lynne!

After lunch, Kyle and Gavin cleared the table, washed and dried the dishes. They are wonderful, helpful teens.

This cute picture was taken of Mark doing Robbie's lip treatment ... but I think Robbie is appealing to me to help him escape. 😱

Cute!

Jim, Jayden and Cameron stopped by the dock for a quick visit.

We're happy to see Jim looking good!

Tonight we had dinner and played 99 which KYLE won! Mark is happy that Kyle now has money for bait. Heehee.

We watched ancient aliens which was about reincarnation tonight. Mark and I are cool with that, but there may be a nightmare or two at the big cottage. Ha ha. Ta Ta til tomorrow. 😜

Thursday, August 3, 2017

Good morning. I was up early enough to catch this beautiful sunrise from Chippy's Hollow deck.

Red sky in morning, sailor take warning.

Gorgeous eh?

Wayne, Kyle, Gavin and Mark left in the Ranger about 915 for a morning's fishing. Sue and I had our own idea for morning fun. Retail therapy! $$$

This evening, it is Marks and my turn to cook for the gang! We have a pork loin prepared, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, gravy and a green salad. Ah, yes, and maple crumb apple pie for dessert.

We all arrived back at the cottages about the same time. Shopping was good, much better than fishing. Ha ha. I guess red sky in morning fishermen take warning.

Congratulations are in order to my cousin Elliot Tawns of Perth, Australia. You see, Elliot placed 2nd in the WORLDWIDE ACA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WOWSA! Well done Elliot!

This afternoon, we played corn hole with Gavin and Kyle. Mark and I were the champs! Haha. However, Mark seems to have twisted his back while we were playing. 😱 Wayne had a medication with a muscle relaxer or so we hope that that will make a difference!

After dinner we played crazy eight countdown ... Wayne won! It was a fun evening. Tomorrow, Les and Lynne are popping in for lunch on their way to the boat at Northern Harbor. More fun. 😜

Wednesday, August 2, 2017

Good morning! Tensions continue to increase with North Korea. An intercontinental ballistic missile is set to launch πŸš€ early today.

Let us hope that today isn't one that will live on in infamy.

Well okay then ... we have fun plans tonight as Donna and Dennis W have invited us to dinner tonight. πŸ˜‹

Wow, dinner was awesome and we had a fantastic time!

Cocktails at the new gazebo! (This is gazebo will be the skate shack for ice skiing in the winter!) Donna and Dennis had lovely appetizers for us, plus a signature drink involving ginger beer and vodka! Ding ding-a-ling! 😜 Dinner was great ... Parmesan chicken, rice and veggies. πŸ’•

Mark 'n Sue ... Red shirts extraordinaire!

Beautiful view from Donna and Dennis's upper deck. We had a wonderful dinner, plenty of stories, and lots of laughs. We hope Donna and Dennis will visit us in Florida.

Well, that's it for tonight. It's nearly midnight and Mark has gone to bed. Ta ta til tomorrow !

Tuesday, August 1, 2017

Good morning. Mark and I were up early expecting Kyle and Gavin at the door at any moment. At 8:45, Mark went to uncover the Crestliner and prepare for fishing. There was no sign of the boys as they had, apparently, slept in after their major sugar buzz last night. LOL πŸ˜‚ Around 920 they came down the steps and headed out fishing with Mark.

I had banking and bill paying to do which took a couple of hours. Gavin filled our birdseed container before he left for fishing so I filled everybody's treats around Chippy's Hollow. Two chipmunks had their cheeks puffed out ... one feeding at the concrete blocks Mark set up and the other at his lodge. Ha ha. They are certainly unafraid of people!

You've heard of beaver pelt hats? Well, how about a beaver wearing a squirrel hat. LOL ... this little red squirrel was so full of seed that he rested on top of the welcome sign. Cute!

Gavin and Kyle on the Crestliner with Mark.

The fellows arrived home at 11:30 with two Pickerel (for lunch?)

Lucky boys! Kyle and Gavin spent last weekend on a cousin's houseboat!

At 1 o'clock Sue and I went shopping, the bank, liquor commission, Canadian Tire and Safeway. Whew!

Tonight, we went to Boston Pizza for their "Pasta Tuesday" night. Mark and I shared a deluxe pizza, and it was delicious. Wayne and Gavin had the Smoky Mountain spaghetti ... Sue and Kyle had custom dishes.  Everyone was full and happy when we left the restaurant.

Home, it's relaxing with the doggies! We phoned RanDawn and yakked for 10 minutes. They've been busy shopping with granddaughter Makenna for school uniforms. (This involved 3 malls ... it's not easy to find the right shade of white.) Haha. This weekend will be granddaughter Charlotte's fourth birthday, so they will be very busy with her. πŸ’•

That's the news for right now. Tata till tomorrow.
