Good morning. Well that was quite the crazy circus! Mark left early this morning to go hunting with Lew and Ben. Of course I was up shortly after he left the house in the wee hours, but went back to bed at 6:30. At 8:30 I took the alarm off the back door and briefly looked outside, nothing there, and opened the door. BeeZee and Robbie flew out, gravel flying, after something! But what?
I quit feeding the squirrels three weeks ago because they were too numerous and brought a big black snake around! That was enough for me. No more feeding the squirrels. So, back to my story!
We did have one crazy squirrel that instead of escaping out the fence near where the feeder was, he, or she, would race across the pebble patio through the fence 20 feet away. What the hell? Mark said that was a stupid squirrel with a death wish!
So, back to the story. The Scotties cornered something by the patio gate, that something escaped them and ran 15 feet to the palm tree ðī INSIDE the pebble patio (rather than safety outside the fence) and scrambled up the tree. By this time I saw clearly that it was a squirrel. I called out “you better not fall from there!” The squirrel looked at me and tried to climb the sleek boot of the tree! OMG ðē the darn idiot fell 15’ onto the stones! Both BeeZee and Robbie were so shocked ðģ at the writhing squirrel that they didn’t grab it ... so the squirrel took off for the fence, across the 15’ of patio (same path again) and jumped for another palm tree outside the fenced patio BUT which leans wickedly over said patio. You guessed it, the squirrel fell back onto the pebbles again! Ha ha ha ... the dogs were having such fun. The squirrel righted himself, leapt over the fence and raced for the safety of another tree! Sheesh! It’s time for DSO after that. ð
That squirrel has balls. ðĪĢ
The circus continued inside too! Rocky (the wild mockingbird) began running back ‘n forth on the windowsill ... tap tap tap. I got the freeze dried mealworms and fed him. Now may I drink my DSO?
Mark arrived home from hunting having seen a small buck. We decided it was a great day for pontooning. On the Dora Canal we saw more than 100 great white egrets, Ibis, Storks and great blue herons. It was awful to see the devastation to Tavares docks and seaplane base. The base is open but boat docking scarce. The docks suffered total destruction.
Robbie loves bird watching ... his head was on a swivel, ðĪĢ
Piers but no docks!
Cruising and a cigar ... plus Robbie on bird watch. ðūð
